I notice that the club is to blame for everything and not the players who have dogged the club who have bent over backwards for these guys.

I don't consider that a fan. I don't consider these players as anything other than traitors.

I'm with you HT …. too many on here are happy to accept mediocrity. In fact, to some, it's almost a relief to see the elite players leave and have a greater number of mediocre players in their place. Yes, we are all passionate supporters and dedicated our sporting lives to the cause ..... but losing Tedesco is the biggest kick in the guts since Manly took our elite players in 1978\. You just can't expect the fans to take it in their stride and speak how rosy the future is. Expect membership numbers to fall next year .... not everyone wants to see their team humiliated.

What can you do ? We backed them. We supported them. They ran as soon as things didn't go 100% their way. You can't force them to stay.

I see Tedesco and potentially Moses as the big losses. Woods is better off not being here for us.

I don't know how anyone can blame the club for this mess.
 
Speaking of protests, how about everyone wave their Opal cards on Sunday when the "Departing 3" do anything rubbish.

You'll have sore arms by the end of the match.

For the record, I am going to enjoy the rest of the season. Avoid the spoon and wait to see who Cleary can recruit.
 
Everyone is going to support the club differently and react to losing players differently especially when those players are fan favourites and the most talented at the club.

Personally I am disappointed we have lost talented juniors but don't feel it's the end of the world. We payed overs on potential to keep these guys at the club (at least for the halves) trying to go down the Melbourne route of having 4 key players and workman around them. It hasn't worked for us, partly because the players had limited experience around them, partly because they haven't found their feet in the NRL, partly because of coaching. It's time to move on to a new plan. In a way it has worked out well that we have lost all of these players at once, we can now build a team with players that may not be superstars in the making but will put in every week. We can change this club from one the relies on paying overs for juniors to one that says no this is what you are worth and this is what we are paying you. I don't think we will get any big name players to the club next year but it's a chance for players who want to step up to step up. The club will go on and some fans will be less present at games but I like to see what's happening as an opportunity to become great
 
Happy is right to a point.
Recruitment and retention is the responsibilty of those runnining the organisation.
If the money is comparable to offers at other clubs and the players still dont want a bar of it - that is a club problem that needs to be addressed.
There has to be some level of accountability, or how can we possibly improve?.The club is the constant and if it has an image problem, blaming players for keeping away resolves nothing
We have been told for five years its a salary cap problem that has been holding us back - not anymore.
The players made a decision and they will own that, but the club must also own their part in what influenced that decision.
I will be very intersested in the response from Pascoe but an honest explanation is required.
Lets not forget last year the problem was how to retain our players under the cap not how we convince them stay
- that demonstrates that the club and the players are miles apart in their perception of the club.
It needs to be addressed.
 
I agree to a certain point.
One aspect you haven't mention is the West Tigers board.
We've had a big clean out but not big enough the board should be next.
Yes players come and go I face that reality but it was very poorly dealt with. And has been poorly dealt with for numerous years in the past.
For the survival of the West Tigers the board must go. Our beloveds club will deteriorate if changes aren't made.

When we sign 3 new players you will forget about the 3 leaving , remember we didn't make the finals with them so maybe we make the finals with the new guys

Your last line nails it. It really is nothing. I mean, every year if someone asks me who played in last years grand final it takes me a minute to work it out. It all means very little once its over. I can describe nearly every game that my kids have played, tell u the score and how they won or lost. But i cant tell u straight away who played in last years NRL grand final.
 
Moses,woods and Teddy were all leaving before Cleary got here.
In my opinion I will continue to support the Wests Tigers they are my team have always been my team and always will be my team.
If those three don't want to be with us fine. We move on, it ain't the end of the world.
Last year Teddy was injured for lots of games.
Moses can't defend, can't close out a game and has 1 good game in 4\. Not good enough.
Woods plays well in patches but in my eyes doesn't do the hard yards. Is captain material and didn't deserve to be ours.

Cleary is a well respected coach we will get a lot more than 3 players for the money we were going to these so called BIG 3.

Brooks very happy he is staying. I think Moses wanted to be the star and didn't give him enough of a chance. Brooks will be better than Moses in the future.

This is NOT worse than the period than 2001-2:
- $8M merger money wasted
- Terry Lamb let go
- Field and McGuinness ban for drugs
- Hopoate finger in bums
- Finished 12th and 13th
- Tim Sheens appointed as a last-choice option, Bellamy and Millward turning us down
 
Yeah it does not compare to 2001-2002 when the lunatics were running the asylum. People can only suggest it is worse now than it was then because we miraculously recovered so quickly from 2002\. Right now it seems the future is very dark, but fortunes can change very quickly in rugby league. Look at the Sharks - 3 years ago they were wooden spooners, didn't have a sponsor, had allegations of peptide use hanging over their heads, had very few juniors etc. This year they are the biggest threat of going back to back since the Storm sides that boasted Cronk, Inglis, Slater, and Smith. Times change quickly.

I agree holding onto a core group of players to build a sqaud around is tried and true in rugby league, but it's not the club's fault it's happened. Look at our track record the last 10-15 years, we've always built around a core group. These players stay on board for a good stint but in the end they follow other paths for either; more money, playing with mates, opportunites in other countries, more stable clubs etc. If a player wants out, they'll leave.

I think at the end of the day we're better off building up new players who want to be here. Then if they decide to leave, we start again. It's a real shame for any club to have to go through this debacle over and over but if the club does everything they can; hire a new coach, put out offers, chase players and it still falls through, then all they can do is wipe the slate and start plan B. For us fans it's a hard pill to swallow but we're loyal and we're passionate and we're going to back the club no matter what.
