Who could forget that fend? Great video by the NRL on Richards' try in the 2005 grand final. Never get tired of seeing it, but there are also some aspects I had never thought about before, like what Marshall was doing back there to begin with…

IIRC he used to defend on the wing in his early days to protect his fragile shoulders.

They also mention in the video and article that Richards asked to swap as his leg was giving him some more trouble.
 
That game could have gone very differently if he wasn't able to play
 
I was at the 69 Grand Final and that was special but the 2005 was even better !

Great video that I never get tired of seeing. Looking forward to seeing more of that fend on the field next season :stuck_out_tongue:
 
Bizarre video. Fitzhenry needed only his speed to score the game changing try, there was no fend. Perhaps it should be called "The Phantom Fend".

Can see it now 2015 young team a decade later and history repeats itself with the big fend by Richards
