The Game Plan against Saints

Saints played better than we did against Manly. So they're not easy beats. With Morris, Dugan, Beale, Nightingale, Widdop and Marshall in the backline they have points in them.
Our game Plan for the rest of year should be pick 4 forwards on the bench and take teams apart through the middle. Farah working the middle and tiring out defenders before our young guns take it wide. If we have a low error rate (like on Sunday)… we will tear teams apart. This simple game plan couldn't work when Benji was throwing impossible passes. Now with Brooks's control and hard hitting forwards it's a recipe for success.
Without Trent Merrin I can't see Saints holding out Woods, Galloway, Taupau and Ava.
 
Win the ruck and live off the penalties we should get when they need to slow down the ruck

They won't have a choice because if we get quick play the balls we will tear the Dragons apart if we can hold the ball

Obviously target Benji as much as possible both in attack and in defence

Too many teams pay too much respect to Benji's running game which we all know has been slowed up dramatically

Quinlan ,Dugan and Morris are the danger men as well as Widdop

I would be tempted to stack Widdop's side and force Saints to play Benji's side and force Benji to run , he will try the impossible when he can't make the break

We should win this game if we play smart and can hang onto the ball (80+% completion rate )
 
Like all games complete your sets and maintain your discipline. Any team with a 60 40 split in possession will win. It's a simple , but we seldom do it
 
Hold the ball, get forwards going and get moses/brooks/simona/richards to link on the left. Run at Benji all day.
 
I would put our most affective edge on their weakest edge if they have one. It was so beautiful to watch, starting with Austin putting the defence in 2 minds and snapping a deep vertical pass off to the right edge.
 
Control the pill and hit them through the middle. Our strength is our forward pack and we need to use it, roll the dragons up the middle and Brooks, Austin and Moses will shine again.
 
complete, kick into the corners, wait for their mistakes. Our team has plenty of strike now with Robbie back and Austin at 6.
 
Up the middle one after another , belt them hard in tackles , as they wear down Austin , brooks , and co to run riot

Smash benji straight away and he will dodge the rest of the game
 
1\. Don't force the un-necessary pass.
2\. Maintain good field position, kick deep and to the corners.
3\. Build pressure for repeat sets of six, do not try and score off every play the ball.
4\. Tackle like there is no tomorrow.
5\. When attacking dragons line, run our big fellas, at Marshall, Dugan & Widdop, this will tire them out from defending, so they have nothing left for attack.

if this is done, it will go along way to helping wests-tigers win. 😛ray:
 
We lost to Manly because we couldn't do this thing called catching. They seemed to have practiced it a bit last week and BAM! We started racking up points.

But in all seriousness, the game will be won off the back of the forwards. There is a good chance Dragons will dominate the early minutes of the game (their backline is just too good), but once we get a roll on their entire structure will crumble.
Benji will attempt some magic passes. I'm betting that Brooks will sniff out an intercept try at some point.
 
We've got to keep them under pressure. Their backline will kill us if we handover too much ball.

Its gonna be tough.
