The Hype around Moltzen

Cant see any reason to keep him off the field… I suppose if this was the case, Moltzen would surely play for BRET, so we should have an idea after that game?!

As for Woods, he needs game time so there is no benifit in having him as 18th man, if he isnt playing for the 20's, he should be on the bench!

will moltzen play on monday? maybe sheens will drop him of the bench and woods will make his debut…..sheens has done this before......

Sheens play 4 forwards on the bench, now that would be a suprise. Tim will play and Iam sure he will get more than the two minutes game time usually reserved for the mandatory" back on the bench". Iam sure barring injuries he will get some time at fullback.

I think he is the sort of player than can make an impact in the comp and I think he has to be in the squad in a crucial position.

At the moment I think off the bench is okay but i'd like to see him at fullback or halfback prior to the finals this year.

I think he is a better half than Lui on past performances and although he isn't a fullback atm I think that you could put him there and let him develop and in time he will be a gun.

I don't buy into the hype surrounding Moltzen. He's a very good player, granted, but he's just missed the last 12 months of football and is going to take some time to get back to the level he was playing at prior to his injury. He has bulked up around 3kg to 91kg too, but realistically I reckon we'll start to see him his his straps around the halfway mark this season.

I agree with you Willow about that part, and further I reckon it's too late. Seasons are lost in the first few weeks.

IMO Moltzen is mentally better than he ever was by watching tens of games from the couch and learning the game in the last 12 months. Yes he will be a bit scared the first few times, that's why I want him to play State Cup for a couple of weeks. Right now or even in an immediate future, I cannot see Moltzen in any position in the starting line up unless injury or suspensions. Moltzen needs to get his **physical aspect** up and going and more than that **confidence**. State Cup will act as a catalyst to speed up Moltzen's return to form.

Sheens' use of Moltzen for 5 minutes from bench is gonna do bugger all to boost his confidence level up. Unless Sheens has thought of it and has another approach to Moltzen I'm happy, but HE is the difference between 2010 and 2011 and hopefully he will take us that 2 steps further delievering the Tigers their 2nd premiership in 6 years.

Sheens will give Moltzen more than 5 minutes off the bench - He is the exception to the rule. He'll get at least 20 minutes or more, enough to have an impact on a game and work on improving his confidence and timing.

Does anyone have the same concerns as I do in regards to the hype surrounding Moltzens return.
Whenever you read a preview on The Tigers chances this season they make special mention of Moltzens return. I personally believe its a bit over the top. I think he has super potential but he has hardly played a consistent year of NRL. He's had some memorable games and magic moments but I think this hype is a bit premature, expecially when he hasn't really forged a permanent position in the starting 13.
I just hope he can ease his way back in without feeling the pressure. I know he probably a bit underdone so the bench is a good start for him but I tend to think Sheens selection of him there will hopefully reduce the pressure on him.

By the way, is it just me or has he bulked up consideribly? The photo with him sporting the new Hyundai guernsey on the official website had me thinking he was Mitch Brown. He looks on par with Lawrence in that pic. Extra size will definatley help if he gets a run at fullback.

moltzen is the man. he is a true leaguie. i cant wait to see him in action.

Moltzen is hyped because he will have an impact. He is better than Fitzhenry off the bench.

he's not an impact player. he should be in 6 or 7\. problem now is lui has found some good form. i hope its not another issac de gois situaton.

I think he can. He is dangerous with the ball. And even if he isn't good, he is better than Fitzhenry. So, no matter what, there will be a positive impact.

Tim is a very good player. He for mine won't make our halves this year unless we have an injury. It is exactly like the Isac De Gois situation, Moltzen whilst be a very good player is not as good in the halves as either Lui or Marshall.

Unlike De Gois we can fit Moltzen into another position.

hope he plays monday night and gee the pressures on for fullback spot now i reckon mckinnons got his hands full moltzen and mullaney are right behind him…....

I don't think there is too much hype. He played well early last year, we won a high % with him as halfback, he missed 20-odd weeks and we still got "within 1 point of the GF".

So it makes sense that when looking at our chances for 2011, the return of Moltzen is going to get attention from the media.

Same with Raiders and Orford. I don't rate Orford that highly, but his addition to a powerful Canberra pack is noteworthy for their chances this year.
