The missing 70 seconds

The game stoppage needs to be questioned especially as the Titans player stayed on the park slowing the full game down. The stoppage lasted longer than 4mins.

When Brooks put the ball on the tee the clock didn't start, it started when he commenced his kicking motion (step then kick) and only took around 8 seconds off the clock. Don't know if the new rules around clock stoppages applied or whatever.

When did the new clock stoppage rules get brought in? I haven't heard of them changing that at all.

So we take the two with 4 mins left on the clock. Titans have a player injured so ref stops the clock. Player finishes getting treatment and we tell the ref we're taking the two and yet he didn't restart the clock. The clock only restarts as he's running in to kick the ball and then stops sheet the goal is awarded.

You get 90 seconds to take the kick at goal and yet only 16 seconds were taken off the clock. You take an extra minute off the clock is the time was managed correctly and they never even get the chance to score at the death.

Crazy how these things just keep happening to us.
This is bazaar? Did we run over a black cat or something?

The time wasn’t lost by the ref. He blew a penalty and shortly afterwards time had to be stopped for an injury. Brooks had set up and was ready to take the kick. Time goes back on when play commences, in this instance when Brooks was starting the kick.

The time could have been taken off the clock by Brooks not being ready to kick, Brooks adjusting the ball on the tee, taking a tap and playing on.
That's incorrect. We were in a team huddle while the injured player was getting treated. Then once treatment was finished Brooks walked up to the ref and said we're taking the two, at which point the ref should blow time back on. But he didn't. Then Brooks went through his motions and took the standard time to kick the goal. We should ahve knocked 90 seconds off the clock but only killed a handful.

When the other team scores in the final minute and a minute of time was effectively added to the clock, it's a major major error.

Yep the ref should have re-started the clock after the injured player was attended too.. but it didn't ...what ya gunna do..

All Brooks had to do was tap the ball and play the set.
6 tackles is easy to soak up 90 seconds. No kick on the last and hold the ball and make Titans go 100 metres.

Just bad game management once again.
Who advised Brooks to kick for two lousy points when we were already four points in front with only a very short time left on the clock.?

You lodge a formal complaint with the NRL to try make sure we don't get screwed over again in the future.
We were screwed last week and the NRL just laughed at us. Why can't Pascoe lodge a formal complaint and at least get the referees of the past two weeks stood don doe at at a number of weeks?.

I emailed the NRL few years back re the clock stoppage and why the clock kept running when the ball was out of bounds. Then they changed the clock to stop the last 5 mins now in dead ball situations?

Maybe you can blame me 😅

I think it was a coaching decision. Someone said Robbie told him to do it and I doubt Robbie made that decision himself.

Hold the ball for 6 tackles is easy?
For us?

It's not a dead ball situation though, we're in the process of attempting a shot at goal. The clock didn't stop after the Titans try was awarded, or when they were lining up to take their shot at goal.

The change was implemented that the clock would stop when a team was walking back to halfway really slowly after the other team scored. So after the ball goes through the posts time is stopped. Only after 80 seconds of lining up for a kick can the referee stop the clock.

Also the rulebook says the clock should have continued.

No I think that whole penalty situation is on Madge because when Tigers got the penalty, they were all unsure what to do lol, so I think Brooks looked at the sideline and saw Farah pointing the 2 at him which meant the message came from the coaching box. Yes Brooks should of waited until time was on again and then attempt the conversion.
