Probably deserves a thread of its own, but it’s made me wonder. Whose had the biggest hype in the juniors who amounted to nothing in first grade. Hard to go past Jake Mullaney imo.

He actually played a season or so of NRL with Parramatta. Was average, did not match the hype, but achieved more than some of the other superstar juniors.

They have been a couple at other clubs that were paid huge money Karl Filiga a great example

Wonder what hes up to these days….

If he got good advice from his manager he probably has a nice house down at Cronulla.

I really don't think he made a lot of bank off the sport…...

Career was very mediocre....

This is probably off the topic but gee we took massive hits at our prime when we lost Taniela Tuiaki and Simon Dwyer.

Mediocre career, but he had a 3 year deal worth $200,000 a year. Should have been able to put that to good use.

Karl McNichol aka Karlos Filiga, was he not the first player to be dubbed "the next Sonny Bill"?

Sharks had a run of it back then, top juniors not developing. Luke Branighan was another. Took them ages to get any value out of Greg Bird.

Gallant's playing career was decent IMO. Always played pretty well for us when given the call-up and then played fairly well for the Cowboys for a couple of seasons.

Was a try-scoring machine in NYC but then he just fell off the map very quickly for some reason. Maybe injury? Was very lanky and skinny from memory.
