The NRL must INTERVENE

Isn't this what Balmain leagues did?

Gave so much money to the footy team that the club slowly deteriorated and eventually collapsed?

The days of relying on corporate welfare from your leagues club on order to buy a premiership ended a good 30 years ago.

We need a club that's commercially successful independent of HBG.

It probably means saying goodbye to outdated venues like Leichhardt and Campbelltown and committing to a bigger stadium with more corporate facilities fulltime. Like every other successful Sydney club has done.
When the NRL examines the WTs license in 2030, the capacity of the existing owner or any new owner to significantly contribute to pathways, development, recruitment etc imo must be one of the considerations for granting that license.. The NRL is reliant upon the development of juniors in competition with other sports and this is a mechanism by which the NRL can increase not only participation but quality. I am surprised the funding contributed to the juniors etc isn't pegged to rises in the salary cap.

2030?

The NRL will not be examining the club's license in 2030.

The current licensing runs to 2034.

Your point on development is a good one. It seems like the NRL has taken up a lot of the development of the sport at a grassroots level and now seems to leave clubs doing development at the pathway to NRL level.

The consideration is the Heritage Deed, which legally protects the Wests Tigers’ identity and prevents any changes to the club’s name or brand until 2030.

After that, we could potentially have a problem when it comes to the club retaining the Tigers name and identity.

The NRL has the power to take action at any time if it believes a club isn’t being governed properly or isn’t meeting its licensing requirements.

There is no fixed expiration date.

It's a NRL perpetual licence that is held by HBG.

As long as the NRL's licence terms and conditions are met HBG hold that licence indefinitely.

Yes, you are correct mate, the original heritage deed does expire in 2030, however it does not mean that HBG can just change the WT identity just that simply if they wanted to.

There are protections to prevent a change of identity.
The WT name and brand are registered trademarks of the ARLC, so any requested name or logo change must be approved by the ARLC.
Name changes would also be protected by the minority shareholders rejecting it, and the NRL's stance in preserving an established brand and its fanbase.

I’d be keen for HBG to sell the ownership just to see the drama it causes on this forum. A sale to Wests Campbelltown would be thoroughly entertaining as anyone who thinks wests ctown would ok home games at Leichhardt is dreaming. Nevermind a sale to a NZ or interstate consortium. At least HBG are happy to play games at LO. Be careful watch u wish for.

So we just have to be happy with losing every year bc HBG allow Liechardt games?

No thanks

Thanks, I really hope you're right. What has been apparent over the years though, is that HBG don't actually consider what's necessarily best for the club or its fans.

going by your reference FT , Peter is the man4 the job.
hbg slapped V'Landys in the face via the constitition.
That greek boy will never forget that
Hi mate, this is not the same Greek who sent that Sisyphus to punishment and what a bloody punishment that was.

But now with this new combined might of Greek deities of PVL/Politis which hasn't been seen since that alliance of Zeus and Poseidon and their example of their power of when they merged lighting and earthquakes and used them to overthrow their rival and enemy Kronos.

As those superpowers were demonstrated before with those Greek deities against Sisyphus and Kronos.
What will this alliance and might of these new Greek deities (PVL/Politis) be used for? and against which of their rival/s?

May the Greek Gods have mercy on us, Hey, wait a minute, Lee H. Loves this club and he's a Greek deity too, maybe he can come back and save us.

I don't know Merlot because it just never seems to get any easier for us mate but I'll always be hopeful for our beloved WT.

Agree. I think a greater danger / opportunity is the NRL cease the license and decrease the number of Sydney teams and offer license to an outside area owner and team. Tigers and Magpies can go jump and new team will have a totally new brand suitable to their purposes.

I agree, if HBG started to fail in the area of running a football club, the NRL wouldn't help, its more than likely the Wests Tigers would be gone for another licence.

Anyway, why in the world would the NRL waste their time getting involved, when there is no evidence of any wrong doing at the moment. HBG seem to be fullfilling their responsibility as managers of an NRL team.

If the NRL start getting involved, it could spell danger, I hope not though.
