The old girl

Aahhhhhh what a relief to be playing at Leichhardt.
Parra can be a bogey side & the chant at the old girl will be enough to sound the demise of the electric eel.
And the more we win at the old girl the longer she"ll be hanging around.

Parra fans are certainly buoyed by their start to the season.

I just hope we don't get outnumbered at one of our home grounds

The only time I can recall us being outnumbered(or close to it) was in 1980(i think) against Parra…..we had a pretty ordinary side and had been so for quite a while, and Parra were chock full of stars re Kenny,Sterling,Price and so on.

I remember walking thorugh the gates(quite early) and there was blue and yellow everywhere.....it was scarey.

During the game,a penalty was given by Greg Hartley to us,(a much needed one by the way)and a shoeless blonde Parra girl jumps the fence and starts berating Hartley......finger pointing and swearing hard!!She was dragged away by Parra players.....Ive never seen anything like it.

PS......Parra smacked us hard that day.

Leichhardt is no fortress.

Ricky Stuart is a good man motivator. You only need to look at how Parra have played their first two games of this season compared to last year to see the difference between a coach like Stuart and a pretender like Kearney. I'd take Stuart over Mick Potter.

Eels were very sharp against the bulldogs.

Fui Fui and Co will rout our pack. No Ellis to hide around now. We gave away 4 intercept passes trying to go around the Panthers so I'd expect more if we have to go chasing points against the eels.

Its a night game… if its a bit wet expect a few more errors and missed tackles.

I can't see us staying focused long enough to keep on top of possession and field position over 80 minutes. Hayne and Sandow will hurt you if they are on song.

When is the last time we played the Eels at Leichhardt?

The only time I can remember was being belted 66-12 in 2001 or 2002?

Dont forget the spiritual connection the old girl has with Wests Magpies.
We won the Amco Cup there - our only silverware of late no thanks to Greg Hartley.

I seem to remember a later game….one where Buckets got an intercept and scored to win the game in the last few minutes......big crowd and went nuts.....

Think it was 02.

Yeah in 02 we beat that great team that had almost won the Comp the year before. It was early in the season as I recall.

That was the mark oniel intercept to win it
And terry hill got slammed head first into the ground but got straight back up

Such a good game!

$50? where are you getting your tickets???? Thought it was around 25-30 for general admission.

Member packages aren't half bad though, averages out to below 30 a game usually. Not amazing but, with reserved seating and some free stuff it's alright.

Hope the crowd get behind the forwrd and they groe taller, stronger and faster. Its hard to get the ball rolling, but once it starts, its hard to stop. We need to hit the Eels early and hard and put them on the back foot. Go Tigers.

the last game against Parra at LO that I remember going to was the last ever Balmain game there, we beat em 20-10

there's no doubting Parra will be a tougher test than Penrith were, hopefully our improvement continues and we can come out on top

Considering we were touched up in our last 2 games at Leichhardt, and only scraped home in the other 2 games last year, we need more than just the ground or the crowd to win the game.

Worst conditions that I have ever seen at a footy game…..rain,wind,it was cyclonic.
