Two weeks running the forward pack has aimed up and if not bettered at least equaled the oppositions pack of forwards

Twal 121m
Musgrove 112m
Tamou 159m
Ofahengaue 107m
Leilua 100m
Seyfarth 76m
Mikaele 28m

4 of the starting pack + Twal over 100m is laying a great platform for the halves to work off..

Forwards win matches backs determine the score..

Massive wraps for this unit.. keep it up..Utoikamanu still to come back..

Great minds, was about to start a thread on the same thing.

They deserve a lot of accolades. Depth has been tested but they aimed up. Both Parra last week and definitely Souths last night were planning to go through us, but the wall has remained strong. I'm happy we are starting to see some good consistent output from Musgrove.

I read after last week's game and the same applied to last night: our forwards aren't making as much per run as the opposition. Against Parra we made less metres then them, but then we had a lot more kicking metres as a result. Against souths, we got a lot more ball as them, and at last check only just exceeded their run metres total. It means we are kicking from our 40 instead of their 40. It would be good to improve this, as it would allow us to put up more attacking kicks on the last. Getting the Ute back would be helpful. We seem to be underutilising Luc at the moment early in the sets. But you can't fault our effort. In the 79th minute, guys were still putting their hand up for the hit ups.

Mikaele didn't get many minutes last night.
Barely noticed him when he's on.

He's clearly not in the plans.

Stef must be champing at the bit.

Agree 100% Geo. Not sure if you were at the game but we were overpowered in the yardage game but the forwards kept putting their hand up. Luciano was huge late where we were not making many metres and South’s were rolling. Defense was brave. we have to find a way to stop getting driven backwards, particularly Seyfarth, Garner and Twal.

Stef back will be massive.

Forwards are matching it.

The forwards and indeed the team has played such that it has forced the opposition off their game to make a ton of mistakes.

Both parra and Souths said as much. That aint a fluke.

Notable mention. 48/49 Sets Completed.
I agree wholeheartedly. I don’t think this new style of play is a fluke and I think our new assistant coaches have a lot to do with it. The stats our team pumped out was unbelievable and I wonder if we’ve ever done anything like them before

Personally thought Ofehenguie was slow in his hit ups. Forwards tried hard but there wasnt the hard running that was needed especially after the posession we had. They should of been fresh as. Thought Ofa jogged up to the line. He did well but needs to run harder.

We really need a hard running front rowers on the bench. Twal takes one spot but Mickaele needs to be dropped.

I thought our pack got physically dominated last night. But they kept hanging in there and working hard despite Souths rolling through us with the ball and driving us back in defence. Continuing to take the fight despite losing it played a big part in keeping us in it. They showed heart.
For a dominated pack they ran a lot of yardage and completed nearly perfectly 👍

I thought the same at the game but having then looked at his stats he was clearly out on his feet. South’s have a huge pack that never stopped running hard.
