The play that needs to be answered...

Fair enough. In my opinion if wakeham just takes the tackle it’s a better scoring opportunity. The Dogs were set.
The ball movement actually had them shot...watch it back if you can. To the right they were gone.

Brooks dummied to the left and surrendered.

Missed the second half but this is classic Brooks.

He is quick on his feet and can do good things. However, over the years nearly every time we make a line break, he backs up the next play with a bone dead decision.

The one that comes to mind that every team nails regularly except us is the classic; Player makes a break down the left side for example and any defensive players that have made it back onside are compressed down that channel of the field.

Instead of doing the obvious and getting the ball shifted out wide right for a classic overlap simple numbers play, he almost always cuts back through the ruck and kills momentum.

His decision making is wrong nearly every time in every aspect of the game. Don’t even get me started on the regular times he is tackled leading into the last play and we got to make a kick option up or rely on AD who attracts defenders galore being the only liable option
😎😂🤬. man, I am so glad other people also see these groundgo day stuff ups of Luke’s… I was beginning to think I was mad

Dogs were offside, he was playing for the set restart. Didn’t come.
That could be an answer...

Not sure he could have thought of that though.

Looked like he just dummied and surrendered. He has been tackled a LOT on the fifth like that this season. My theory is he thought it was the fifth tackle.

Sadly, the bolded bit has been true for ages.

It’s not the worst play though. Not what Luke did which was nothing although it looked like a penalty was coming.
But running on the last.
Handing over the ball 2m out is almost a better option then creating a drop out these days.
The way the teams are attacking drop outs it’s almost a 50% chance that you’ll get another play.
By surrendering the ball that close to the line and having a full solid set of D it sets you up again for the next set.
In game 1 this year Eels were all over Melbourne and as soon as they got any good ball possession they worked a few passes to try and crack the defence and then played to a forward on the last to be tackled 1m out.
What followed was a bit of tough defence and long kicks from both sides for a few sets until you started to see Melbourne gain an advantage from their defensive pressure.
Couple of sets later they were back in the game.
Pure Bellamy genius.

Yes, I almost jumped through the screen. It was lame in every sense of the word and summed up our predicament so succinctly.
Maybe the guy has mental issues coz that was a dumbo play of the highest order, at a critical time in the game.
Yep.
I lost it at that moment too... Glad the missus was out and our visitors were upstairs but they probably heard me

He got swamped because he overestimated how much time he had due to what I already outlined. I agree it was disappointing but again his teammates didn’t help. The slow PTB gives the Dogs the chance to rush up.
Yep... Nailed it.
He didn't "just stand there"... As you said they were all over him in an instant... It ain't the first time I've seen it, happens too often

Peter Sterling was a slow halfback but quick between the ears,we have the exact opposite in Brooks and are getting the same difference in results.Things need to change with both our halves and i can't believe somebody within the club was stupid enough to extend AD's contract.

Here is a thought - had Doueihi not played today or not made all his errors, we win. Yet, the know it alls on this thread are giving it to Brooks who did create two tries. He created two opportunities last week but his team mates were unable to capitalise.

As a long time critic but someone who gets sucked into believing he will come good i can only put it this way.

He cracks under the pressure when his team needs him the most.

He comes up with good off the cuff plays and looks good at times but as soon as we need him to guide us in the red zone he either does something like that, throws the ball a foot behind the support player or kicks it into the third row of the dead ball line.

He cant be fixed and will always be the same player.

Good at times but folds when we need him.

Poor play. A few things. We needed to take a tackle and get a quick PTB, we seemed to take an age to play the ball on that play after a couple of half tackle breaks. In that situation you need to just go to ground and bounce up. I also think the dogs had to be offside. Brooks baulked and took a split second to look out wide and I believe we didn’t look to be in great shape (as usual) and he then opted for the kick but was swamped. Poor play from Brooks yes but also footy IQ across the whole team was low. Standard Wests Tigers stuff.
Agreed our play the balls are way too slow.
Sheens plan is fast footy. It will not work while our play the ball is slow.

Last tackle and likelyhood Brooks still fluffs it. He should have tried. I am thinking sending Daine Laurie to reserve grade to work on basics was the right decision. When his high ball and other areas are better managed (I seriously reckon 2-3 weeks) send Brooks there.

He would be ideal.

I am not sure who his manager is, but his extension until 2025 was stunning. There are basically no halves except Moses end of 2024...so, you take the best back up half and extend him right when halves will be in mass demand? When he has the Dally M winner blocking his path...

Ridiculously dumb...
Surely, if we move Wakeham to 7 and Brooks game doesn't improve at 6, we could easily find someone to replace Brooks from the u.k
