The Police

They have my support. Four of my mates ended up in the police force. They've seen some pretty awful things. One of them drew Kings Cross straight after graduation. Saw two OD's and a suicide by handgun in his first week. Don't know how he still does it.

There's a few bad eggs, but that's like any profession. We can only hope they get weeded out and improve the integrity of the force. Like teachers, they are treated like rubbish by the community. Regularly hear guys at work complain about being booked for speeding in their work utes and some of the things they reckon they say to the cops is pretty ordinary.

Glad they're here doing the dirty work so we can go about our lives relatively safely.

Police have a tough job in today's community as do most authority figures due to the watering down of respect, manners and authority. Society would end up a mess without them, stating the obvious. You mention NY AHX my understanding of American police is that they aren't as released as those in Australia as they can't afford to be. Is that what you have found AHX?

We were in NY for Veteran's Day, and the cops were all on high alert. Very tense bunch of people.

I worked with a bloke a while ago who was ex US police after being a Marine and he said policing is a very dangerous occupation in the US draw gun first then ask questions apparently was the safest approach.

As is the way of life some great police but some the power of the job can be abused resulting in arrogance. I think they get a bad wrap overall due to these type coppers talking down to people on a regular basis

Seeing as the majority of this thread is random anyway, i thought this would be the best time to ask this. How the hell do you go when signing it with that username? Have you memorized how many r's you have, or are you automatically signed in? Cos if the answer to both of those is no then you must have a hell of a lot patience.

AHX, it's apparent that you are not currently a resident Australian, while I find your attempts at shit stirring mildly amusing I also find that a non resident AUSTRALIAN should refrain from trying to have some influence in our way of life.
You toe the line then you have no grief with the men in blue, you stir the pot then you place yourself at risk of gaining an unwanted reputation, I speak from experience!.
As a kid I was one of those Rebels without a clue and it cost me big time in the day!.

During the Fitzgerald years in Qld I had ties to cops on both sides of the law

Both my brothers god parents was a clean top cop who was promoted to higher honours of the force after the inquiry ended and all his sons (6 are police )

I also worked with assistant commissioner's son Graham Parker

I'd hate to be a copper in just about every situation they are in lose / lose situations

I've worked alongside the cops up here for years. I regard a few of the local coppers as friends. They are decent blokes.
There have been a few arrogant ones over the years that have tried to score as many quick promotion points as possible but thankfully they have been in the minority.
Working on a remote station, on occasion I had to deal with some pretty touchy situations and I was bloody glad I could call on them as back up if needed.
I think it has to be remembered that the police deal with people when they are at their worst and are confronted by some pretty awful situations. I wouldn't want to do their job and I'm glad they're there.

Working in a Hospital and seeing the things Police Men and Women have to deal with? they bring Patients through Emergency that are high on Drugs and get spit on , screamed at , accused of strangling them ( to get the attention of other patients) .
I have got to know quite a lot of the Constables in our area and to me they are Bloody Heroes and do a fine job in trying circumstances , i sometimes wonder how our Emergency Department would function with these Heroes . They risk there lives every minute of there shifts to give us a safer Community , i admire there work.
I've spoken to a few Constables and the things they tell you like attending accidents with Family Friends trapped in Car Accidents and other horrific things . Gutsy job.
One of them was telling me a while back how one of his Colleagues had to leave the Police force then was treated like a Criminal for needing Government assistance cause he couldn't return to the Work Force for suffering Post Traumatic Stress and then would get dobbed in by people that knew him for taking his Grand kids to school. What they can't do the normal things in life like taking there Grand kids to School because they suffer from PTS , but yet they risk there lives keeping our Communities safe but when some do end up suffering from Post Traumatic Stress the Government wants to give them a hard time 😱pen_mouth:

Cops have their hands tied these days….open to abuse from all manner of ferals who are protected by civil libertarian greenie leftys ready to jump up and down coz a cuffs locked a notch too tight.

Plenty of bent ones around too, not so sure about now but when I was younger they were left right and center....but you generally respected cops, and your parents, and others in a position of authority...it was just a natural pecking order and things ran pretty smooth when everyone knew their place.....today there are arswipes everywhere thanks to the doo gooders
