The Potter Plan

Agreed Happy, but also added bonus of using Moltz is giving Teddy the best opportunity at fullback, otherwise you can guarantee Moltz will play 1 with Teddy on the wing. But would love nothing more than to see Brooks play firsts.

See what your saying but we lose any combination we have with Moltz at 6 and Teddy at 1 that we would have with with Brooks at 7 and Teddy at 1

Its a tough call either way

If Teddy does play wing I'd love Potter to give him a roving role ,much like Preston Campbell was when he played wing for Penrith and he can just bob up anywhere which could help to create confusion among the Dragons defenders

"What we need to do is define the attacking options we have, especially within the opp. 20.
Obviously rucking it hard with the forwards is our go-forward as well as kicking early in sets to force an in-goal return
But we need some structured plays within the 20 as well as having the rest of the team in the know of whats coming, simply punting the ball in-goal and expecting the wings to run onto it isn't enough anymore. We need on-point bombs, chips etc. the kick and chase is slowly becoming outdated with the NRL having expectations on wingers doing crazy leaps and try savers etc.
Doesn't necessarily mean we have to conform to expectations or whatever, but wingers these days are built to be agile and flexible enough to perform these tasks and we lack that at the moment.
We score a lot of tries off passing, and a lot less off kicking especially bombs and the like".
x2
I actually think it will be easier to structure an attack with a more traditional 5/8 like Sirro than it is with Benji. Also, Anasta will do most of the 'bombing' and do it a lot more effectively than Benji. Hopefully these facets will offset the loss of the individual brilliance that Marshall can supply (at times). Will be very interesting to see how it all pans out. All this conjecture is of course moot unless our forwards do their job. Looking forward to it.

_Added bonus if Brooks plays 7 is his combinations with Teddy which could become crucial in a tight game_

Brooks is a Balmain Junior, Teddy is a Wests Junior…
They've "Possibly" Played 100-120 minutes of trials together, And they combination???
News to me....

The biggest change I saw against Storm, and the thing that upset their defence structure the most, was our offloads. It has never really been one of our strengths but I see it as a strategy that Potter will employ against strong & disciplined. As I would classify Saints in in this strategy and getting back late on Tuesday from Melb and only having a couple of sessions before the next game I think we will see more of the same. The 2 tries we scored against Storm eventuated from off loads and for the first time in a long time Moltzen made a great break from a Woods offload up the middle. IMO our best form of attack will be our defence for this game and hope we can improve on the good 60 mins from last week. Potter has always said we have to earn the right and I don't think he will budge from this belief until they can consistently deliver for 80 mins. If we can develop this mentality in the first 12 games then, barring injures, we are a good chance to power home in the backend of the comp and hopefully exorcise some of our demons from the past.

Thats the biggest laugh of all time when players say "we are just worrying about ourselves "

If that is the case why do the coaches watch hours upon hours of the opposition games to get a game plan to attack the weaknesses of the other team

Hmmm yeh the coach studies the opposition, he then gives the players the plan…the players focus ie_ concentrate on themselves carrying it out...glad you cleared that up

And then the players watch fragments of the games that their opposition have strengths and weaknesses and how they are going to either combat the strengths and capitalize on the weaknesses

Yeah true batboy ,Miller was half back with Teddy in 2011

Massive brain fart my bad Apologies for the misinfo :brick:

An opportunity try moltzen back at half, anasta at 5/8 and Ted at fullback with anasta using his experience to guide and implement the gameplan in cohoots with farah.

Although I love that option cunno, i'm worried about over changing the spine like last season…it'll have to change back with benji too!

Snowleopard I tend to agree. I don't expect to see anything else but basic backline movements, and we are probably more likely to break the line through offloads around the ruck - Tell Tedesco to work his butt off looking for them!

That and get into Soward as we have before with some success.

Everything else pretty much the same as last week.

Fair point pHyR3 as soon as Benji is fit he will come straight back into 5/8, but I wonder whether Ted will get his shot at Fullback full time or whether he will have to adapt to being a winger then again what happens when Koro comes back? I think one of the reasons Moltzen is playing better this year is that he knows there is a fit Ted waiting in the 'wings'….....
