The pressure's on Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter

My Neville Nobody opinion is out structure, mainly in defence but attack as well, this year is too rigid, needs to be more flexible, have a look at the Storm play, sometimes they shut down an attacker with 4 players with the rest of the defensive line adapting accordinly,we have major dramas in our cover defence with too many "walkers" watching whats going on instead of getting involved or reading the play..

Correct… Potter has ruined our attack but even worse is the cover defence going all the way back to round 1\. Watch Manly and they will have 4 players coming across in cover. Storm and all the other top teams have players chasing from the inside....our players look unfit and once a player goes past them that's it.

Potter has ruined our attack? We have the worst halves pairing in the comp, and no-one able to replace them, and that is Potter's fault? We have missed experienced forwards all year, have rarely one a forwards match-up and that is Potter's fault?

If Potter was to get the flick, which is a joke in itself. Why is Trent Barret's name being bandied about?
Am i missing something with this guy? Why is He so highly rated ?i dont get it? 😕

Potter is the Best man for the Job,

People always whinge when their team is not winning. Lets get some rational debate around Injury, structure and player mindset happening.

The Tigers will be very different without Benji next year, whilst we will loose an element of flamboyance and ad hoc attack the team will finally be ably to devise and follow a game plan.

Go back to the Melbourne game where the guys continued to do the same thing for around 80 mins. This is what Mick Potter will have the team doing next season and as we all know watching the Manly and Melbourne games… This is what wins more games that not.

Sanity prevails! Thanks Hbom, the coach is an easy scapegoat!!

Good point Spartan in regards to the Melbourne game

Their was only one way to win that game due to the conditions and guess what , we followed it

For the 10-15 minute period in the 2nd half we followed game plan and we were destroying Manly

The issue isn't Potter clearly in most cases ,it's the players (mainly Farah,Anasta and Marshall) failure to stick to the game plan and hang tough when they need to hang tough

Potter should be kept , he has players he doesnt want and also coaching staff , medical , trainers , give him the broom and judge him in round 20 next year he only has to move us up to top 8 and its a hell of a lot better than where we are now

It's all just garbage , why would we get rid of Benji and then get rid of Potter, the bloke that Benji didn't like and wanted gone

Potter will get some new assistant coaches ,blokes that actually have a clue

Ignore the BS guys

I dont know Happy. Mayer has been blitzing social media for weeks now correcting incorrect reporting/rumours in the most emphatic terms. Then in this instance, unless I have missed something all he has come up with is "he has got a contract for 2014". I think that is just a reflection of reality; if there is a majority of the Board that wants him gone then he will be.

Well, there is a current coaching review. It would be considered poor form to launch a review and announce a decision midway through it.

If I had to guess, I'd say the result of the review will be announced soon, and it will be to keep Pottsy and take on some new assistants of his choosing.

Actually this is GM's response.

The stats probably dont show it, but I think our goal line defense has improved out of sight this year. We can actually defend a set close to our line.I think Potter has gone back to square one trying to get a respectable defensive structure in place. We still have lots of howlers in defense, but they are mainly due to very poor one on one misses or some very ordinary decision making.

With the introduction of a long term no7 and maybe even a long term no6 the attack will improve out of sight. Potter needs encouragement from the board and the CEO that they are behind 100% and when these articles surface they should be all over the press backing their man

Yeah, sort of but our defence isn't up to the top Teams thou.,always chasing too many points IMO.Potter seems OK but i don't think he will last beyond 2014 unless he can get the best out of our roster but it will be a different outlook next year without Benji so you never know.

Mayer won't let the board do anything too stupid. I hope.

Lol …. That's the biggest statement of the year that one !

Don't forget that Mayer is accountable to the Board not the other way around.

Wests Tigers chairman Mike Bailey says he isn't ''sharpening any knives'' for Mick Potter but confirmed the future of the embattled coach would be reviewed before the end of the season.

The Tigers are languishing only above Parramatta, their opponents on Friday night, on the premiership ladder in another disappointing season for the joint-venture club. It's understood several board members are pushing for a change of coach despite the fact Tim Sheens is still on the payroll after being sacked last year.

It has been a difficult NRL coaching initiation for Potter, with injuries and speculation about his relationship with playmaker Benji Marshall among the challenges in his first season in charge.

The Tigers are reluctant to pay out another coaching contract, although the cost would be much less than parting company with Sheens.

It's understood under-20s coach Todd Payten, NSW assistant Trent Barrett, Eels assistant Matt Parish and Melbourne assistant David Kidwell have some support to take over. It's understood directors would need to endorse any change unanimously but the matter has not been broached at board level.

''We will look at that as the season moves on, as would any team given our season wouldn't be as successful as we'd hoped,'' Bailey said.

''At this stage, I'm certainly not sharpening any knives and I'd hope our players and administrators would be giving Mick the respect he should have. It hasn't been discussed by us at board level.''

The pressure on Potter is sure to mount if the Tigers are unable to defeat the lowly Eels. While Tigers officials are undertaking a review of the football operations, the biggest talking point is whether Potter will remain.

''I think he's had a very tough run and that he is a very good bloke. I have a lot of time for him,'' Bailey said. ''I have to say that at this stage his future has not been highlighted by the board but we will see how we go.

''At the same time, we must respect we have a two-year contract with him, especially given we have another coach there we are paying money to at the moment. We have to be very careful from that point of view.

''With a better run of players - and I'm not talking about the quality, but the fact we have so many youngsters on the scene - we will turn things around in the next season. But it may take that long to get there.''

Several board members are pushing for a change according to weatherman Mike !
I wish we could change the board members Mike …. And send you back to the weather report where you belong.

I've always said give Mick until 2015 and if the side isn't cutting the mustard by then it will be time for him to go.

If sacking Potter is the boards answer, it just goes to show the players did fully run the club this past decade. It further shows the board have no clue. I think it's time for a overhaul of the clubs runnings, if they don't give Potter a chance and a roster he wants.

We need a system of financial members to have a say.

Where is the fair go towards our coach and fans, ffs no wonder we can't attract any players. The board needs to be shown how to operate or more likely shown the door.

Disgraceful if Potter goes. I can see all the quality coaches lining up now for a shot at glory.

I'll give the board a tip, sign a halfback and another back up half and sign a mongrel forward, this at the very least to see what Potter can do, not saying through Mayer that we'll spend up in 2015\. It shows poor leadership from the top.

The way I look at it, the decision has been made to get rid of Potter, that's why there will be no big name signings for next year, all this just to sign another sucker who will have access to $$$ to build a team.

Smile and wave boys, what if this plan doesn't work either. By then the year will be 2017 and we'll wait till 2019 for quality players to become available before we go on a spending spree again, but you forgot we need a coach AGAIN.

I'd love to know where Farah stands on all this.

Benji's little boys club has been smashed to peace's by the coach which is good imo.

Who else has a problem with him?
