The pressure's on Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter

The problem is there is always speculation about the coach, i'm sick of it i hope in the review someone grows a set and tell's the board that if the club and a winning culture is what they are really after then they're the first that need to pack their bag's. Secondly and more importantly if potter is the coach they want to help in the restructure then sign him on for another 2 year extention taking him to 2016\. All this talk of getting rid of the coach just promotes instability, sign the guy up good or bad decision at least the players and fans know where the club stand's, our board are without a doubt the biggest bunch of idiotic missfit's i'v ever seen, the fact they are running our club is a crime considering these moron's could'nt run a circus out of town. They expect potter to fix in 9 month's mistakes they made over a 5 - 6 year period talk about passing the buck.

The above post pretty well covered it, most problems start at the top.

The most telling thing in the article is that Potter is perceived as having difficulty communicating with players. This is what coaching is all about. At half time last week there was a brief shot of Potter addressing the players - no one was listening to him.

I also react to the claims that we can't possibly make the 8 next year. If that's what you believe, then go somewhere else. You don't set failure as your goal. It's true that so much falls on Brooks, and we have gotten ourselves into this situation by not acquiring a halfback!

Top eight next year!!!! Your dreaming, we will not progress up the ladder much from where we are,but we will improve and with a couple of quality signings for 2015 we will than take off. Next year is about closing the gap on the top five teams and actually pushing the better sides for 80 minutes and jaging the odd win and winning the games against the strugglers.

We are a very realistic chance of top 8 next season. By this season's end we will only have missed the 8 by 3 or 4 wins which is easy to improve on next season with a more favourable injury toll, no more Benji-related circus distractions and a couple of decent signings, not to mention offloading a bit of our dead wood.

Top 4 is light-years away from us but top 8 is an achievable goal next season.

Were building niceley for next year and we will be in the market hard for big recruits for 2015 season we should be a chance to make the 8 next year but by 2015 we should be there with the new recruits.

I think potter lacks a personality that demands respect. There have been times where he is to blame for our losses most notably the sharks game. We had everything to play for , and he failed to prepare the team. It's upto him to coach players out of a slump, as the better coached do.

I get sick of reading and hearing about Potter being under pressure to keep his job. Give the bloke a chance. He needs the opportunity to work with and develop the young talent coming through, bring in the staff that he wants and needs and get a year where the injury toll can be nothing like this one. He has been willing to make some tough decisions at this club to bring about the change that was needed. At the very least he deserves to get to the end of his contract and if the improvement is there, offer him another season after that.

He was a very good coach in uk give him time to build his team so far his making the right calls and signing good players for next year but more to come for 2015 season.

It's all just garbage , why would we get rid of Benji and then get rid of Potter, the bloke that Benji didn't like and wanted gone

Potter will get some new assistant coaches ,blokes that actually have a clue

Ignore the BS guys

Agree HT..poor bugger is also in a position when he will be forced to play Benji (and probably Ayshford) , both of whom don't appear to really give a rats .. This means we will end up playing 11 against 13..just like the last couple of weeks

Exactly. He WILL see out his contract at minimum. Potters position currently is quite simple. He has inherited the whole situation (players, support staff, culture, etc) and he has been quite clear in this to the powers that be. There will be significant changes before 2014 in all of those issues raised above. The general feeling is that however bad we may be going, it is definitely not of his doing and he deserves to be judged on his performance when he has culture, players, staff doing it his way. Any other coach who came in would have had the same requests/requirements. Do not read anything too deep into this story (as usual)

Give Potter the time he needs , we can all see Benji is not following Potters game plan and doing his own thing , Ayshford is in la la land and going through the motions.

I bet Potter can't wait to see the end of Benji and Co.Give him the time he needs with the support staff that he wants. As for next year we probably won't make the 8 but I would like to see us compete for 80 minutes and build towards 2015 for a big year.

imo this year is 100% Tim Sheens and Galloway was a big loss.

I'm happy to wait until late next year to judge Potter.

I wonder if he really has communication problems with a lot of player?

More likely Benji didn't like what he had to say.

I dont know Happy. Mayer has been blitzing social media for weeks now correcting incorrect reporting/rumours in the most emphatic terms. Then in this instance, unless I have missed something all he has come up with is "he has got a contract for 2014". I think that is just a reflection of reality; if there is a majority of the Board that wants him gone then he will be.

Correct me if I'm wrong ,but this comment was taken from an SMH interview wasn't it ,not a tweet

He did send a tweet to someone who'd said something along the lines of "your failure to respond to questions on this implies there's some truth" with "no need to reply. I know the situation, and mick knows the situation. Rest easy". So i took that to mean potter is here for 2014\. As he should be …

I don't see why scraping into the 8 next season is unfeasible for us. If we stay reasonably healthy, brooks kicks on to some extent we should be able to make the 8.

1\. Dead wood is very likely to be removed in the off season with good replacements from potter and mayer coming in.
2\. Nofo, Richards, Simona all great centres.
3\. You said sue, sironen was great, fulton is great and i think woods could have a future at lock. Also, we have a plethora of props to make up the slack. Blair (decent now), Buchanan, Ava, Taupau, Gavet, Galloway and maybe woods.
4\. That's true, next season is very dependant on how our halves go.
5\. Has been decent, utai, lote, pettybourne, miller, aysh and moltz are likely to see the door. Richards, Halatau and Taupau are all good signings.

Yep, Mayer also said top 8 next year if im not mistaken?

Yeah true, top 8 is feasible next year but by no means a certainty. I wouldn't put my house on it with this current roster though.

Re: Richards- I believe he's played only a handful of games in the centres and that was some 6-7 years ago for Wigan. So he's not a 'great' centre by any stretch of the imagination. Nofo can play in the centres, but why move him when he's been so dominant on the wing? Same goes with Timmy Simona…

The signings have been decent, but aren't breakthrough signings by any means. There's conjecture as to whether Richards will even by in the 17 next season and confusion as to why Halatau (31 next year) has even been brought back to the club...

My Neville Nobody opinion is out structure, mainly in defence but attack as well, this year is too rigid, needs to be more flexible, have a look at the Storm play, sometimes they shut down an attacker with 4 players with the rest of the defensive line adapting accordinly,we have major dramas in our cover defence with too many "walkers" watching whats going on instead of getting involved or reading the play..
