The pressure's on Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter

The boy's club should have never existed in the first place if the club had a coach with balls. Now that we get one everyone in the media wants him gone. Anything to sell a paper that will end up as tomorrow's fish and chip wrapper. Fark the media.

I've been one of his biggest critics but lets just give him the 2nd year on his contract and if it doesn't work out after that we should sign Brad Arthur as head coach. Arthur has had the respect of all players everywhere he has gone even though he is a hard task marker. He is also one of the best defense coaches going around.

I'd love to know where Farah stands on all this.

Benji's little boys club has been smashed to peace's by the coach which is good imo.

Who else has a problem with him?

I've heard a few things from within the club that would suggest Robbie couldn't be happier with Potter, and his no BS approach.

Robbie is one of the biggest competitors I've ever met and I've heard of him not speaking to people after his team loses in the soccer. I've always believed Robbie and Benji were mates, but Robbie was just more serious.

Potter is a straight shooter and that's exactly what we needed. Someone to rip apart the comfort zone within the "boys club" and make some tough calls. He's doing an unreal job and certainly deserves a second year, where I would like to at least see an improvement in attack and defence with his own signings and some new coaching staff selected by him.

I wouldn't actually mind seeing Fittler given an assistants job. Would be great with the young halves, and has a great footy brain (about the only brain he has) but also brings a bit of fun and enthusiasm to compare with Potters more serious side. Fittler or Folkes for me. Just someone from outside the Balmain and Wests factions for gods sake.

Potter and Robbie are our future, I would just love to see Folkes join us as defensive coach to help Potter.

Potter's future at Tigers to be reviewed

Wests Tigers chairman Mike Bailey says he isn't ''sharpening any knives'' for Mick Potter but confirmed the future of the embattled coach would be reviewed before the end of the season.

The Tigers are languishing only above Parramatta, their opponents on Friday night, on the premiership ladder in another disappointing season for the joint-venture club. It's understood several board members are pushing for a change of coach despite the fact Tim Sheens is still on the payroll after being sacked last year.

It has been a difficult NRL coaching initiation for Potter, with injuries and speculation about his relationship with playmaker Benji Marshall among the challenges in his first season in charge.

The Tigers are reluctant to pay out another coaching contract, although the cost would be much less than parting company with Sheens.

It's understood under-20s coach Todd Payten, NSW assistant Trent Barrett, Eels assistant Matt Parish and Melbourne assistant David Kidwell have some support to take over. It's understood directors would need to endorse any change unanimously but the matter has not been broached at board level.

''We will look at that as the season moves on, as would any team given our season wouldn't be as successful as we'd hoped,'' Bailey said.

''At this stage, I'm certainly not sharpening any knives and I'd hope our players and administrators would be giving Mick the respect he should have. It hasn't been discussed by us at board level.''

The pressure on Potter is sure to mount if the Tigers are unable to defeat the lowly Eels. While Tigers officials are undertaking a review of the football operations, the biggest talking point is whether Potter will remain.

''I think he's had a very tough run and that he is a very good bloke. I have a lot of time for him,'' Bailey said. ''I have to say that at this stage his future has not been highlighted by the board but we will see how we go.

''At the same time, we must respect we have a two-year contract with him, especially given we have another coach there we are paying money to at the moment. We have to be very careful from that point of view.

''With a better run of players - and I'm not talking about the quality, but the fact we have so many youngsters on the scene - we will turn things around in the next season. But it may take that long to get there.''

SAID IT BEFORE ON THIS THREAD, THAT POTTER HAD NO BALLS, BENJI AND ANASTA STILL THERE WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP.

Okay mate, no need to shout. Guess Bellamy woulda just smacked the NRL around to give him an exemption. It's all potters fault that the NRL didn't exempt brooks. Which hasn't actually been confirmed yet.

if they fire him they have some explaining to do
hell sheens had a horrid year in his 1st year but at least he a complete offseason to prepare

Potter should be given the opportunity to see out his contract imo this will allow him to start a season with something like a team and set up of his own making, it is largely up to him from there on (fingers crossed with injuries, egos, board members etc etc etc).

Yep, I can't believe Ashford is still in the starting side. There are options that will restore pride in our jersy.

Bodene can play in the centres
Nofo to centre with Lote back into the team
Siro to play centre

None of the above are great options. They are better than the damage being done to our brand right now.

The message of 'respect the jersey or pay the consequence' is more important to the club right now than even building for next year. It is a dangerous thing to get away with not showing pride in the jersey week in week out. As fans we are proud. we identify with our team. i for one will never identify with the poor attitude i saw from Ashford. Ashford has tarnished the equity that the Tigers brand has with me.

Potter needs to stand up. Fans are watching. Young players are watching. Wipe the tarnish clean.

Lose by 40\. But never ever let a player repeatly disrespect our club.

I have been a supporter of Potter until I seen last nights team announcement in regards to the halves. "An improved performance from Benji & Braith" Potter is either disillusioned or on drugs. The tigers need accountability.

Well…they both were much worse the week before against manly.

Going from ''total & utter rubbish'' to just plain ''rubbish'' I guess is an improvement.

So hes really telling it as it is

now steve folks is the guy I could handle coming back . im willing to give potter one more season ,but if all fails then bring in an experienced first grade coach
