The biggest problem I have with SOO is that the rivalry isn't genuine anymore, it's manufactured and contrived and there's nothing worse than that imo.

There used to be genuine hatred and it showed on the field, you can't fake that.
But the modern SOO and the fake build up and manufactured hype just turns me off.

True and you can say the same thing about regular NRL games now they're all friends with each other.

IMHO, SOO shall be refereed the same as other NRL games, the only exception is that the best refs are used, ATM it is a mickey mouse game, which has some resemblance to the real NRL, so who cares :sign: ,
I lost my interest in this SOO BS 15 years ago.

I think it's probably past it's used by date, same thing every year. At least the comp has some intrigue about it, though the refs are changing that somewhat now :angry: I think it's time for a new concept, or perhaps none at all, they play enough games as it is now.
