Morris likes Sharks' chances - they're hungry

FOR John Morris, it's all about timing. When asked his reasons for joining Cronulla, we didn't expect this to be one of them.''There's the fact they haven't won the comp,'' Morris said. Pardon? Surely that's a reason not to sign up?
>
''No, no, that didn't cross my mind,'' Morris chuckled. ''You want a decent shot at winning one. But you never know where the next premiership is coming from. Players like Trent Barrett and Paul Gallen have busted their arse to win one. ''That's a real desire of mine because I haven't won one.''
>
Morris has come agonisingly close. The utility playmaker was 18th man when Newcastle did a lap of honour in 2001\. He was a member of some of the better Parramatta sides which didn't deliver on their promise in the noughties. And he arrived at Wests Tigers a year too late. So maybe his twisted logic makes sense. ''It's a bit of a different feeling here,'' Morris said. ''When I arrived at the Tigers, it was just after their '05 success. ''There's a different feeling when the club's never won one. Everyone has got that dream.''
>
Other recruits have their own reasons for coming to the Shire. For former Tigers centre Dean Collis, it was a change of scene. ''I needed it,'' he said. ''The last two years haven't been great; I've struggled with injury and form. ''You come to a different club and can get different things out of yourself. That's the plan.'' Morris admitted he had some qualms after the Sharks' dramas of 2009, but they were quickly allayed. ''Since I've arrived I couldn't be more impressed with it. It's all about looking forward.''
