The refereeing

The constant piggy-backs with sneaky 6-agains to get Parra on the board were a little bit too contrived. As usual all Parra tries were given immediately while ours were obligatory no tries. In hindsight the ref's biggest game management blunder was to not find an excuse to send one of our players to the bin in the first half as we were being too competitive. The second half appeared surprisingly fair in comparison once the subconscious bias waned. Typical refereeing script for a top 4 vs bottom 4 game.
Spot on. It's like the supposed 'bottom' teams have to play above and beyond just to be officiated fairly.

The one upside is it's kinda like training with extra weights or handicaps. When we finally get a fair go, we exceed expectations and play better. I don't know, just trying to find a silver lining to what is starting to become obvious bias from our officials.

Watched 2 games this weekend. Neither Pemriff or eels had to do any work to get out of their end, got a penalty just about every time. That's a massive advantage if you're gifted the toughest part of the game.
There were two penalties where we were standing in front of the ref so his hands were tied but I agree we got pinged for slowing the play the ball but they were worse and didn't get pinged.

The refs have been woeful towards us all season the “bigger teams” get the leg up all the time, the bias towards the selected few is ridiculous. Any wonder we are 1 and 5 imo Madge needs to be getting into the refs a bit more in his pressers to make it obvious that they are obviously favouring teams ahead of the lowly ranked teams.

This BS has to stop. The club has made a good appointment in Badger to try to instill into the players the small nuances but things are too blatant.

Roberts clearly held without the ball late and no penalty and nearly every set of six on at least 1 occasion per set Parramatta players walking off the mark in the play the ball often in front of our 1st marker..

And them not standing square at marker in defense.

Time for Sheens, Madge and badger to ask for a meeting with Anneslly.

Man o man we were getting caned again. Helped Parra a lot and they were soooo soft. I nearly blew a gasket at the end when Roberts was tackled without the ball and of course no penalty.

Honestly not even close to getting a fair go.
100%

My friend with who I have watched every game this year is just learning the finer points of rugby league - but she can also clearly see when we are routinely getting screwed by incompetent - rampantly pro-favourite - willfully blind bums (who do their best to artifically manufacture the bookies desired result)!!

Ref was poor in calling Held today.

There were a few very late offloads
Not to us!!

He sent all ours back to the spot - then let a super-late one to Lane with 3 blokes on him 10m out from our line late in the game!

It was more transparent bias!

The ref who pioneered this shit was Bill Harrigan - who made up rules to meet his pre-determined narrative!

To those who know - I just need to say Bruce McGuire.....

Dreadful. Just absolutely awful. Didn’t get a penalty for the first 25. No set restarts all first half. Our players continually held down and worked over but nothing done. Nofoaluma ruled to have grounded it when he clearly had not. Pass knocked down in a tackling motion ruled not played at when it’s been ruled that way for years. Butler somehow allows a challenge of Matterson being all over Tom. Matterson doesn’t release him but bunker ignores it. Parra player has his hands in Hastings’ face but somehow gets the penalty. James Roberts tackled before he got the ball.

Penalties 6-4 them
Restarts 4-1 them (according to nrl.com - I thought it was 5-1)
What was the referee’s name last night?

On a 'need to know' basis, course… at least he couldn’t do a bloody thing for their princess…

NRL is just haemorrhaging talent? I think Roby from the other competition was our last decent official - of course he’s never promoted 🤣

Thought we were getting one in the bin before half time when "I'll get you Butler" had the conversation with Brooks.

Ref lovedddd a held too long 6 again for the slimers today

but admittedly there was more than one suspect pass from us that they let slide...so maybe a bit of karma
Yeah, I think I mentioned else where that Hastings needs to watch those flat/forward passes, which admittedly are in every game these days. I thought we were lucky to get away with a couple, but it just highlights the incompetence of the refs and sideline officials.

It was the closest thing to an actual joke, no bias involved when the rort continued despite our domination early in 2nd.

Chris Butler. He's been around for a fair while but it doesn't matter who refs our games, we won't get a fair shake until we are consistent winners and actually go into games with a general expectation that we are are a team that performs and wins games that we are expected to win.

Butler and his linesmen had a definite bias in favour of Eels. The knock-on call against Laurie under the high ball was ridiculous, Laurie was 30cm off the ball. If Nofa hadn’t raced over to Laurie and asked him if he had touched the ball, there would have been no challenge, and we would have been defending our line.
Is it a favourable bias toward top teams? Or home ground advantage?
One day , hopefully we will have a home ground and know what it feels like?
