The SHEENS Poll.....

"There is no one better".

What a pathetic excuse.

Another season without finals football and Sheens has to go, no if's or buts about it. Hence I will reserve my judgement until the end of the year, as should the club.

When does planning for 2011 start…......Wests Tigers can never attract players?

We dont sign anyone I've heard you say ........

You are going to wait until the end of the season to decide who the Coach will be....

What Elite player would want to come to a Club with no coach.....

Thurston is off contract looking for a club . ....is he gunna even look at us......

"There is no one better" is not the only factor in such a decission, however it ia a component that is very valid …

You dont get rid of the Current Australian coach, without having a better credentialled candidate to take over.

Detracters, Once again the ball is in your court. " Who is your nomination to succeed Tim Sheens?"

With all the guys on this forum claiming to have contacts and access to the WT, I am sure any valid noination would find there way within...

Sheens bring a number of extremely important elements to our football club:

**Stability** - Players and staff know what's going on and the future looks very solid

**Respect** - Players obviously respect him as does the Rugby League world, we don't seem to have the off field dramas like a lot of other clubs

**Figure Head/Leadership** - He is a great figure head and leader for our club. He is articluate with the media, he is a mentor to the players and general staff. The way he can nurture a young player both on and off the field is second to none.

There is more than just making the semis when it comes to footy. Sure we would all like to make the semis but you have to enjoy the stability and the general sense that our club is heading in the right direction.

By May last year i wanted him gone. I thought he'd run his race. To his credit though he made some tough calls which by the end of last season showed he'd made the right calls. Our results improved and so did our general play. Still in my books it's not enough to re-sign him now. We need to see how things go next season. Key players are under contract so there's no rush to tie him down. Wait till june/july before making a decision i say. It'll come down to results which with our best squad since 2005, should improve.

Next.

Aussie coach (20 years 1st grade exp ) for the Kiwi Coach (0 years 1st grade exp)

Australia are the RL Dominate force despite the one game the Kiwis won last year.

RL world cup count for very little.

Indeed Next….

RL WC counts for quite a lot.
It proves the man can coach…wouldnt you say?

20 years experience, LOL....so only someone with more will satisfy you?
That narrows the candidates down a bit...I guess you'll win this argument :unamused:

last 12 years have been failures bar one, but hey...its all experience

The current Kiwis coach...hey, even Marshall may hang around if we get him, instead of threatening to follow Unca Tim like a little puppy as he always does.

To say there's no one better to support the argument for Sheens is one of the worst points ever. If Sheens cant get us firing early next year, then the bottom line is he cant do the job for us. So what if it "appears" there's no one better, if Tim cant get us to the finals u HAVE to TRY someone else. I dont look at it as there's no one better, i look at it that no one can do any worse. Yeh yeh, some can argue we can do much worse, but at the ned of the day, missing the 8 is missing the 8, and if he cant deliver in the first half of next year, their simply is not one single argument that could support his re-signing.

Hopefully we'll be on top of the table by mid year and we wont have to worry about it, but if we're struggling, guy's like Folkes, Kearney, and Potter need to be looked at. If we go with a young guy, maybe someone like Folkes or David Waite could be a coaching director.

Nathan Brown…...

I think a lot of people would be against it, but i'd be open minded. It may just work. Personally, i'd love to see him come back as Tigers coach, win the comp and burn every Saints supporter out there

I think if Wests wait till halfway through the season and we are travelling badly than we might give Sheens the flick and Folkes could take over.

Memories of Terry Lamb start screaming right now. Do you want that type of club back?

This is a key point to me. The club gambled on a muppet before and we got right royally done over.

I think Sheens needs to be put under some pressure and we need to groom a replacement or two but geez the club is in better shape now than when one T.Lamb was in charge.

Sheens results have to be put into context. Over the several seasons here at the Tigers and including his stint with the Cowboys his teams were never expected to make the finals. The bookies always had his team as outside the top 8\. Last year, even the year we won it. Why? Not the coach, but the cattle. He hasn't had top quality teams. I thought we'd make the 8 for sure in 2009, but the wider more unbiased opinion in the football world was we didn't have the forward depth or halfback to do much better than 9th or 10th.

Yet Brown had teams full of superstars every year and couldn't get them over the line. What did Sheens do back in the Canberra days with a team full of superstars? Won, won and won.

And you'd be just about willing to punt the Australian coach and take on Nathan Brown. Iknow its the silly season but stay off the drink before lunchtime guys.

Sheens has the squad this year and the bookies will back us to make the 8 or higher even. If he doesn't then imo that is his first real failed season. And fail he won't. Just like with Benji's injuries, given time, his own determination and persistance will prove his real value once again. 2010 the year of Sheens.

He's been here going on eight seasons, yet he STILL hasnt got the cattle.

Bwahahahah…good one. Another excuse.

At least the blokes on the drink before lunch will eventually sober up...I dunno if theres a cure for delusional denial.

Hey at least we have the vision to see Sheens isn't the only option…..

Nathan Brown's record isn't all that bad......Hodgo could come back as an assistant .......Sheens can be Coaching director.....

It proves the man can coach…wouldnt you say?

Proves to me Wayne Bennet can coach, and NZ only won the game in the final.. other then that we have smashed them every other game we played with him as coach.. One game Even if it was the final counts for Zip

I think his argument was well put forward

last 12 years have been failures bar one, but hey…its all experience

well Sheens hasnt been at the club that long then hey... he has taken us from bottom dwellers to a team that unfortunately just falls short but known for one of the best attacking teams in the comp. Now he has the ammo, i think he can finally coach a team that can handle the pressure a little better then previous years

The current Kiwis coach...hey, even Marshall may hang around if we get him, instead of threatening to follow Unca Tim like a little puppy as he always does.

Dont go crying if we loose more then marshall then... people are screaming that he looks else where but he is heavily influenced by sheens.. gee even Ellis came to Tigers TO BE COACHED by SHEENs.. that tells u he has the respect of 99% of the team

I think he's talking about Sheens' last 12 years as coach, not the tigers last 12 years. But hey, if 9th and 10th every year floats your boat, more power to u brother.

Brother!!!

Your supporting the re-signing of Sheens without seeing any results early next year, so that says your happy with him providing us what he has the last 4 years, 9th and 10th.
