Picking over the scabs of our past, hopefully whatever lessons that were there to be learnt have been. But also hopefully whatever is media axe grinding in this article and all others out there is ignored.

I think it's a good article so far, and to be fair i can't stand Chammas.

Lol

Also interesting to note this decision from 20 odd years ago

“From the very first board meeting, it was determined that the future of the club was in the south-west corridor, specifically in the Macarthur region,” says Martin Bullock, the Wests Tigers’ first chief executive.

So it appears a decision was made about an identity. One can only sit here and shake you head.

I thought that was a good article, if tragic. Hope the club learns something.

This is a great article. Not clickbait or emotive but just a reasonable catalogue of the mistakes that most of us have watched the club make from the outside and shook our heads. Most readers probably don’t know the history like we do and just think we are a useless club when I reality we are not a useless club we have been let done by a series of mistakes dating back to our inception. We are a laughing stock today. The average rugby league fans views as a joke despite clubs like the bulldogs having won about 2 games in 2 years. We are perceived as a basket case but I think that we have actually moved on, we were a basket case 5 or 6 years ago but we are moving on and we just need the club leadership to stick on this path, support the coach, the recruitment staff and the players. And we need a bloody home ground to call our own. We don’t need to convince everyone else about our identity. We just need a home ground where these young players can play week in week out and win, create a culture and a reputation and an identity of their own.

That's a fantastic article from Chammas, not sure what the complains are about. There's no bias no rubbish opinions just pure fact about the failings of our club over the last 21 years

It's hard to read but it's all true and if the bad decisions don't get talked about things will never change, and they haven't. Found the quotes from Taylor and Pearce very interesting too

It's like a wiki pedia article hey, outlining our history and short comings.

Quite depressing really.
We should be a powerhouse club.

Disagree

We just had a doco trying to say don't believe the media and we are heading In a new direction. Media return serve bringing up history for what purpose?

I thought it was fair and accurate. The last couple of paragraphs actually call out the number that Ivan Cleary did on the Tigers....

T*he board asked Pascoe to commence negotiations with Ivan about a contract extension – which the coach indicated he was willing to consider. But a month or so later, with speculation mounting over Nathan’s future, Ivan parked the bus.

For all the mistakes that have been made by the Tigers – and there have been many – many at the club have struggled to overcome the reality that the most significant event in their recent history was one they could not control.

The Tigers were unaware that Nathan had told his father he didn’t want to leave Penrith. Suddenly, Ivan said his contract talks could wait. It was more important to concentrate on the season.

Little was thought of it at the time but, in hindsight, it was a classic sliding doors moment. The worst was about to unfold*.

No one else has missed out on finals for 10 years. We deserve these articles and I hope it prompts change of some kind.

And Pascoe should be kept away from the football department. What a disaster.

You see what happens when a Coach ie Voldemort is given full control of the football department and salary cap… that is what I call a disaster

I have been reading quite a bit of the comments, facts and general opinions regarding our identity, all very interesting and healthy discussion...
I honestly think that history cant be changed,we the Wests Tigers were FORMED by the uniting of 2 proud foundation clubs, thats not going to change, however older people such as myself remember very clearly the Balmain boys at LO,the Maggies battling tenaciously at Lidcombe, that is what the core heart of the WTs is hard battles, pride in the jersey, supporting your teammates and never giving up...
I clearly remember being overly excited to travel up the road to get to Campbelltown Stadium to watch the WTs play, about 5/6 years ago,I watched us play and what got me was the Magpies brothers and sisters beating drums, waving flags with the victa logo on the jumpers and magpie emblem on the flags and most of all screaming support for the WTS. It was also pleasant see the old Balmain jumpers, flags and other memorabilia mixed in and also screaming support for the WTs...
What Im basically saying that the youth of today only know the WTs as they are,the very many of us who supported both foundation clubs from our youth have great memories to cherish and we should be blessed that we are part of the history of the WTs going forward...that day I was at Campbo the crowd was about 18/19 thousand, pretty good for the CSS and we won....
So in conclusion, history cant be removed ,WTs have to have strong Admin, board, rosters and most of all a winning and stable culture ....once these are achieved, the crowds will be back, membership will stay steady or increase and the WTs will then produce their own identity on the back of a winning, stable and family orientated club and team....
