The video refs - something that was introduced to make the game a lot better, has actually made it a lot worse. It astounds me that they can look at something over and over, from so many angles, and still make such appalling decisions. I truly believe that better decisions were made without it.

#1 - Refs…mostly video ref

#2 - Players staying down to be awarded penalties by the VR. In my day these people were called dogs! If play is stopped for a player staying down then they must be replaced.

#3 - Interchanges should be halved. Then the team who has put in the most amount of hard work wins. Nothing worse than seeing a prop come off after 15 minutes....I feel like kicking them up the arse and saying get back out there!

#4 - Clock should stop for goal kicks. People like Soward are wasting an enormous amount of time with their kicking.

#5 - CHANNEL NINE and their continued bastardisation of the game.

#6 - Bring back reserve grade so more players are still making money out of the game whilst continuing their developement.

#7 - Ban the trainers from entering the field other than when a try is scored or an injury occurs.

#8 - Bring back 5 in the bin minimum for head highs.

#9 - must somehow get back to a true h/a season where everyone plays twice.

The refereeing.
In the GF both of Manly's 2 first tries came a couple of plays after bad refereeing decisions where Manly should have been penalised and weren't. The second one where Watmough dropped the ball in the play-the-ball and then played it facing the sideline is the most glaring ref error since Darius Boyd's famous non play-the-ball against the Tigers in last year's Preliminary Final.
Agree that Vid refs should rule on forward passes where a try is scored. Why not?
Referees have changed the rules in certain areas by 'interpretation'. Does anyone know what a 'double movement' is these days, for example?

The McIntyre System
is a disgrace. We MUST adopt the AFL system so that teams determine their own fate by winning or losing. We had a classic example this year where the Warriors were thrashed by Brisbane in week one but still made the GF while Brisbane did not!! Who thinks that is fair?

I would like to see big / bigger discounts to the salary cap for juniors who work their way through the ranks and/or discounts for players who stay a 1 team player.

Also I'd like to see clubs able to buy other players contracts as long as the player agreed, much like what happens in the English Premier League. The clubs should be able to make more money to pay players more money and keep them in the NRL instead of letting them go to other codes/ESL.

I'm not certain, but I think this is changing next year.. Apparently both teams will get 1pt if it's a draw at Fulltime, and they will play Golden Point for an additional 1pt.

I'm happy to go with that if it comes in.

I agree with most everything stated here. Two things that really burn me are: no Saturday afternoon game and having the GF at 5.30 kickoff.

Having two games at 7.30pm on a Saturday is just crazy for TV viewers who cannot get to any games. They used to have 3pm, 5.30pm & 7.30\. This was a better idea than the current where you cant watch the 7.30 games live unless you switch between them on viewers choice. What if you live on the other side of the dutch? You dont watch the later games till 9.30\. As the Kiwis are an intergral part of the game allowances should be made for them.

Also, wouldn't it be nice if the GF was moved back to 3pm? It woud be a much better game IMHO.

Like the idea of Saturday arvo games but again with so many people having to work Saturdays and sports that kids are involved in Saturdays it makes it too hard for fans to get to games
Maybe if they moved every 3.00 Saturday game to a regional area that doesn't have a club to support they would get big crowds and fix that issue ??

My main gripes

1\. I hate that rugby league in general dismiss what is done well in other sports.
2\. Mcintyre system is rubbish, been done to death the reasons why.
3\. Too many tries are scored off bombs, I like the suggestion earlier about any kick taken on the full in the 20 goes out to a restart
4\. Golden point, I dont like the current set up for that, I would like golden point to be golden try, with a touch football drop off, a player leaves the field every 1 minute, until a try is scored, with the clock stopped when the ball is out of play.

One I forgot but would love to see is reducing the interchange and allow a 5 or 6 man bench but only allow each team to use 4\. Because of the cap and penalties playing such a huge part in the results of games, I don't think it's fair that an injury to a player during the game (particularly a half) has a massive impact on that team. Giving the coach the ability to carry a specialist player on the bench who might not get used would help imo.

Not sure, I personally hate the super 15's extra point system. I think rules should be kept as simple as personal and the league point allocation / finals system too. The game is made up of two halves and should be treated as that imo.

It would be good for the coach to select a forward and back from the 20s to sit on the bench that could cover a possible injury, this would help blood the younger players for first grade. That way we wouldnt have a player sitting on the bench every week and not getting a game or less than 5-10 minutes. For example Mitch Brown.

I think something as radical as this would not only eliminate golden point but it will keep the competition alove and interesting all the way through till the semi finals start …..

Away win = 3 points
Home win = 2 points
Away draw = 2 points
Home draw = 1 point.

Imagine in the last round before the semis if team A is on 30 and is in 8th spot with +100 points for and against. Team B is in 9th place on 30 points as well with -100 for points for and against. You'd think that Team A is safely in the semis as long as they win. However with this points system if Team A wins at home and Team B wins away, team B goes through to the semis.

I still like the traditional 3pm Grand Final. A lot of people work Saturday but I dont think too many work Sundays. Maybe more do that 20 years ago. The AFL still have their GF in the arvo and get about 100,000 to turn up. And look at the Yanks: They play their Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon and look at the hysteria it creates. For me the 5:30 kickoff is terrible. Its neither here nor there. The sooner they go back to 3pm the better IMO.

Don't ban kicks all together, just put a rule in place that bans bombs, chip and chases and cross-field kicks - but still allows for kicks in behind the line. - any kicks taken from the optional 4 point conversion must go not go above the head before the first bounce. (the first bounce rule is important - it eliminates being penalised for the fact that a grubber behind the line can occasionally pop up after a couple of bounces)

* Already mentioned here, but golden try would be good - and no option to go for penalty goal after 80 minutes. All penalties would be tap, or kick for touch.

(here's a curly one - golden point imagine a penalty conceded 20 metres out , half way to the sideline - Marshall goes to "kick for touch" on the _other side_ of the field (effectively a cross field bomb) - and our boys run through from an onside position and contest for it and score a try - If he doesn't find touch would it considered play on?)

I totally agree with the timeslot argument Rossop don't get me wrong
But in many regional areas 7 day trading is becoming the norm not the exception
Using the superbowl as an argument probably isn't the best as Grid Iron is their No 1 football code by a million miles
We have 3 codes to compete against which are all reasonably close

1) Golden point. During the regular season they should either have a draw at full time or extra time, but not golden point. It should just be a straight ten minutes and whoever's leading at the end of it wins the game. In the finals it would be the same, but if it's still tied after ten minutes it then becomes golden point in order to get a winner.

2) That stupid rule when a player puts one foot out of bounds or over the dead ball line and catches a kicked ball and it is a penalty against the kicking team.

3) McIntyre System. Three years in a row now with a team outside of the top four in the grand final. I'm not saying it should never happen, but it should be a lot more difficult. It's ridiculous that in week one 4th can win and 6th can lose and yet the next week they both have the same chance to progress.

3) Midseason signings. It's the reason why we have this Moltzen mess right now. It just doesn't look right and although it doesn't affect the way all players perform on the field (see Chris Sandow, who played better AFTER he signed his Parra contract) the perception that they might "mail it in" is bad enough.

I could go on and on but that's all I can think of for now.
