This Forum Endorses #KeepBenji

We’ve scored points without Benji this year, it’s not like he’s our only way of creating opportunities. JAC and Nofa are both try scorers, if brooks can find his 2018-2019 form (it’s a big if) then he can provide plenty. Add in the Leilua bro’s and Jacob Liddle and we should be fine for points, it’s our defence that’s the major issue this year and that’s where Benji strugglers

I hate the over critiquing of Benji's performances on here to justify the decision to not re -sign him. It's a pattern we as supporters have resorted to - death riding one player as if it will make a significant difference when they are gone. It won't - all the players this year are responsible for where we are, and if some weren't there, we quite possibly would be in an even worse place. We have tendency to relentlessly bag our own when they provide no further use and I see no point to it especially given a player of Benji's calibre and whom is widely acknowledged and respected in the NRL community. I would like him to retire for my own reasons the club has made the decision I support that too. If he gets to play on somewhere great for him.

I’m hoping that everyone who signs the petition, walks away from the club when the club ignores it. I’d rather not support the same club as people that feel so self entitled.

I don’t think there would be a Tigers supporter who doesn’t love Benji and what he has done for our club But rightly or wrongly the kick the other night against Souths was the absolute last straw for me. The guy has so much vision but that was a Hail Mary play that he didn’t need to make, he had created an overlap for either Rowdy to run through a massive hole and score or a cutout to Nof to score. It’s frustrating to watch such an amazing player make the wrong call so many times. I hope he retires as a Tiger but he shouldn’t play again and the Tigers cant allow him to play with us another year.

Interesting view @GNR4LIFE , are you saying that those who are demanding the club draw up a contract for Benji should tear up their contract as supporters?
I do know that I would much prefer to have Benji as a reserve than the current inside back. But I’m with you, I want to see how well the club can manage the cap expenditure under Madge and Hartigan. Benji is wrong to do battle with the coach and so are some fans.

Maybe they hope you will walk away too, I have to say they seem a little less untitled than yourself who appears to questions other fan's right to support the team because they have an opposing view to yourself.

Now before you start this comes from someone who would prefer to see Benji retire and has not signed the petition, but hopefully you don't stop supporting the club when they don't walk away.

I'm actually disappointed that a post calling for other fans to stop supporting the club has received the support it has, no one should tell people they shouldn't support the club because they have an opposing view.

Sorry but that's a shocking post. This forum doesn't support keeping Benji. Was there a vote? No. Maybe a few individuals support an old reckless and careless individual, that's their choice but it's highly offensive for you to speak in behalf of the rest of us!

This forum does not support re-signing Benji and frankly anyone that does hates urge Tigers and wants us to fail. Benji is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Please uodate the opening post to say the individuals named in this post support benji, and sign the bottom of the post.

I wouldnt be suprised if many of the people signing it support other clubs and enjoy watching what he rarely does (good play) during the year but would hate to see him play for their team each week serving up dross most of the time.It would be interesting if people honestly said who they supported in the petition i would think most dont support WT

There was no way Rowdy was scoring from there.

As I stated in another post, I have no problems with differing opinions, or if people don’t agree with the Benji decision. My problem is when people step over the line and try and force the club’s hand. That’s self entitlement. I won’t apologise for thinking that, nor will I sugarcoat it.

If and only IF a spot was available on 2021 roster I would sacrifice a minor contract.
But I can understand that majority may be in disagreement.
For all his faults .... he’s still got it.

So is acting like your support of the club is better than others and saying they should stop supporting the club

I fully understand your emotional plee Kul,however the reality is Benji has been a fantastic influence on kids and the game itself in its entirety...its time to leave and pass on the baton to the youth as was in his case.....
We all must understand that the NRL is big business that turns over huge revenue for the main body and clubs within its sector, that revenue also is performanced based, the more success the club has the better the revenue percentage becomes..
I liken it to a very important machine in your factory,if that machine becomes old and fails to produce the product of high quality ..then it must be replaced otherwise it could cause another part of that line to overwork and not produce a quality product as it is expected to do...

I don’t care. If they want to try and overstep their bounds and force the club’s hand they should stop. What’s the bet they would be the first ones to point the finger if Benji cost us a big game.

Love the sentiment and no matter how this all plays out love the dude for what he has invested into rugby league. In saying that we need to move forward. We need to clear all the older players who have glaring weaknesses and u fortunately he is one.

The club needs change and to do that we have to rip a few bandaids off

Maybe you mean that you wish those fans didn’t support the same club as you, rather than you not support the club.
I often feel that way, but that’s life.
Some fans would simply rather see their favourites play badly and cost us any chance at success, rather than not play. It’s very common. There is a long list of of cognitive biases you could attribute to this mentality.

Keep him involved with the club absolutely & give him a great farewell as the Tigers legend that he is.

But with respect, I think his playing days with us are over. Time for a new direction.
