This forum...

I'll enter this forum at least once a day but i rarely make any posts. After a while you know all the characters, the wise, the intelligent, the funny, the provoker, the twit and the completely insame.

I'm a fan of this forum and i hope it continues to grow, as it does so will the wisdom and insanity.

For those that get caught up in the silly stuff, ignore it. That's what they're after, a response.

I only bother with this forum. I am here to glean any inside info that is available and share comments about the team, so I agree that when threads get hijacked with the personal posts it is unnecessary and annoying.
When it comes to respect I hope we can all show some. This starts at the top and I was somewhat non-plussed with the current forum title "Round 22 Wests Tigers Vs South Sydney Rabbitoh Scum".
Now that is unnecessary… regardless of what we might think of the opposition I think we could show them just a little more respect there - yes, even souths! Surely we are better than that.
Otherwise, thanks to everyone who makes this forum possible, it is very valuable especially for those of us who are long distance members.

IMO this forum has really lost a lot of it's appeal lately. It was once a great place to be able to discuss all things Tigers with like minded fans and a relative refuge from the stupidity that plagues other forums.

But this place is a democratic playground and along with that comes the risk that it may not always stay the same. Of late people like Ron and a few others I believe have infected this forum as they constantly and tirelessly push an anti sheens agenda. Contrasting opinions are essential in a place like this but the relentless pushing of a singleminded agenda for me robs all objectivity and logical discussion.

I also acknowledge that I am contributing to the malaise here. I have been unable to sit back and ignore Ron and I have responded and bitten at his barbs. I am still not sure if Ron is fair dinkum or a troll. As a consequence I'll give the forum a rest for a while.

The point of this post is just to give my opinion and see whether there are other who agree and want to make steps to get it back to what it was before, or if I am just wrong and pi$$ing in the wind.

See ya

Agree 100%.

I find myself in the same position…...getting overwhelmed with all the trolling and finding myself in the middle of it.

But the bombing of every thread with the same BS is sucking.

Yep. Couldnt agree more. This forum has gone down a bad path and I have basically adopted the same position as Glennb.

Thanks for all your input guys.

As was mentioned before, I've been away for a month and a half and thus didn't see a lot of what people have been complaining about, but it's disappointing to come back and see the club going so well on the field yet this forum so poorly.
I expected more.

Rest assured, your comments are being heard.

As a supporter and member who lives outside of Sydney I really appreciate this forum. I appreciate the efforts that must go into running this site and I appreciate the efforts of the Mods.

This forum is nothing like LU. You go in there and post something and you know that someone will call you a " stupid f'n c" for your efforts. That doesn't happen in here at all. Sure quite a few arent backwards in coming forwards but rarely is there an out and out attack. In fact I find it amusing that some of the best mudslingers on this forum are in this thread at the moment complaining about it …....

I agree that quite a few threads seem to get hijacked in here and at times that can be frustrating however I dont have any mates that follow the Tigers. So after a weekend you try to vent about the game and the usual response is "of course your side lost...they're crap". Hardly makes for a constructive argument. Thats why its great to come in here and converse with like minded followers of the Wests Tigers. Sometimes we bag the team, ie when they dont put in (2 x roosters games and Souths game) most of the time there is praising of the side or comments on how we would tweak the the team for the best results.

We as supporters come from all walks of life and as a result our personalities will clash. I'm sure there are a few in here that I wouldn't give the time of day to out on the street but in here we are all equal and are free to express our thoughts...sometimes these will cause arguments but its never the end of the world.

I dont mind the odd stoush over an issue with other posters, that can be fun.

But it irks me when peeps are dishing on blokes that dont post on here,ie Sheens, the team etc.

I think you can disagree with issues without making it mucky and doing it in every thread.

If Sheensie posted on here, and he had the right of reply I would say go for it to all those that put poop on him.Take it up with him.

But he doesnt, same for the players, and as they are representing us I think they deserve a certain amount of respect, that I dont think they get on here.

To me that is dissapointing and reflects badly on us as supporters.

No one is stopping sheens from posting, and I can 100% confirm employees of the club watch every westst tigers foru
and have even printed off certain posts/topics and shown them to sheens and players.

I also know an ex player stormed the CEOs ofice after reading a post on LU and demanded something be done about it.

Nothig is stopping the players posting

So Glenn says he's happy it's a democratic forum but then leaves because people post with anti sheens agendas….ahhhh ok

Guys if you have the chance to use the friend/foe preferences you don't have to see the same whingers all the time.

Wise words old man.

I think though some really like to have a looksee at the stinks without admitting it, then pretend to be really bothered by it all.
Cant have your cake etc etc

Frien or foe….or boot off, problem solved.

Peace. :sunglasses:

My problem-the mods. Some of their childish remarks such as Fifita turns left and sees a KFC outlet and stacks on a couple of kilos, or South Sydney scum (agree with Ron there) and the fact that these comments are coming from the mods damages the reputation of the forum even more. Then we seem to have double standards, where the general posters are placed under moderation for using foul language here and there, but the mods seem to be able to swear as much as they like.

Little red exclamation mark **!** top right of each post = "report" function.

Problem solved.

The odd bit of banter is expected and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree with Spartan, I come on here to discuss all things Wests Tigers that I couldn't ordinarily talk with mates or colleagues about. It's great to associate with other fans whose devotion to this club matches mine and borders on the obsessive. I never used LU or any other forum previous to this. It's great that we can all come on here a vent or gloat after a game. I enjoy reading other members thoughts and opinions even if they are divisive or not popular.

I hope we can all get back on here and sing the teams praises after this weekend when the fellas put the Bunnies to the sword.

This is my sanity check whilst in the office in very high exposure and High pressure job.

We need to remember above everything that we have something in common that we are all extremely passionate about and that's our Wests Tigers NRL Club.

At all times our suggestions, comments both positive and negative (Both are OK) should be posted with the betterment of our club and its supporters in mind.

A little respect, an element of manning up and lets remember its about Fun.

117.

Spot on, especially the 'we are all extremely passionate about the Tigers' part. We wouldn't be on the forum if we weren't and sometimes that passion can spill over into overtly negative comments in regards to team performance, but in the end, we are all here as supporters of the club and all want the club to succeed.

My only issue has been the unnecessary baiting/trolling that's been going on in the occasional post.

Which Moderators are swearing as much as they like?

Well I was the person who posted the title of the next game thread… seriously though... why does that worry people? I am curious? We have a strong rivalry going on with the Rabbits... I also apologise to anyone who was offended, but I'm bewildered into why it is considered childish by some.

None-the-less... sorry to those offended.

Who'd have thought that the ratio of twits to sensible people is about the same as it is in real life on here? amazing stuff.
It's forum what do you expect.

I think a lot of arguments start because people cant get over having a previous disagreement with a user. Instead of taking each post on its merits, its the merit of the "poster" that gets judged rather than the actual comment. Its difficult to do anything about this behaviour and if the mods try to do something about it, im sure the vilified will scream blue murder as it would have to be a judgmenet call by mods which leaves them open to critisism.

Many people have a problem with Ron, now i dont like or dislike the guy but one thing i know for sure is that he can cop some very unfair crap on here sometimes (and sometimes it is fair). He can post something quite normal and get attacked and i have no doubt if another user wrote the same thing they wouldnt be criticised. I think we should all try to get into the habit of reading the post before u look at who posted it, that way it may give us all a bit more perspective.

Most users on here are great and we can disagree, even argue, but then move on and agree on another subject. But there a few who just dont let go of personal feuds. Its funny, becaue WE ALL have this trait in us, its just human nature, but the forum is losing a little bit of appeal over it so i think we should all try a little harder.

Might I suggest all those that are annoyed with posters such as Ron or others for that matter stop giving them a platform. I get the feeling every time they incite some form of rage they then sit back and rub their hands together and wait for the angry responses. I mean if that's all you have in life you gotta almost pity it.
