This merger and all it's stupid issues

My love for the game began as a 14/15 year old when I used to watch the then magpies team run up and down the hill on Harbourd Road Woodbine. I was curios watched the boys sweat and an older man sit at the bottom of the hill having a smoke yelling at them. I worked out that I could gain free access to the then Orana park ( CSS)if I would go at half time so me and friends would ride our bikes down and watch. The passion grew from there and threw thick and thin even throwing jerseys out of car windows as I fell in love.

2000 was tough but you know what my love of the game was bigger than the politics that was occurring around my team.Wests Tigers and the love of rugby league became my new passion and I haven't looked back it is what it is and again the highs and lows became my passion do not care where they play if I can go I do.Now many years later my children 10,7,and 4 chant for the team they love without the knowledge of the associated history and politics . They and I follow The mighty Wests Tigers a team we love.CSS or LO share the passion Wests Tigers new generation of pure excellence the past is the past we should never forget it but thats where it ends. As my Kids now chant Tigers Tigers Tigers.

I honestly don't think the poor crowd at c'town was a reflection of ex-Maggie's fans rallying against the club, we are 13 years down the JV path and those that chose not to support the JV have well and truly dropped away. I think it was more due to the fact wests and penrith are struggling. If penrith were coming off a bumper season and wests had secured the minor premiership last season this wouldn't be a issue. I have seen penrith at C'town many times and they always travel with a big crowd. This time not so much. I don't think it's as dire as some (even our own CEO ) make out…well I hope so anyways.

We should go to ANZ and play all our games there then flog cheap memberships to try get 20k. Shitty ground n all but if this is what it takes to end this petty rubbish then lets do it.

I vote for concord oval as our home ground.. Seats 17000 comfortably

At the end of the day I just want what's best for the club. And taking a LOCAL DERBY to a ground that couldn't pull 10k is not what is best for the club. What is going to get the Magpies fans to come back to the games? Winning? I don't think so this time. There is a real issue here. We would have been better off financially playing that game out in Penrith imo.

No. We would have been better off at Homebush but whinging supporters going on about atmosphere are pressuring the club to ingnore the money there. Apparently we dont need the money.

Well yeah.

Of course things would have bee better if Sheens had of accepted atmosphere or nostagia as a pay out. Rude bastard wants money. Humphries was shocked at this apparently.

I think that all makes sense. Also there seems to be a bit of wait and see from our fans at this stage. A sub 10k crowd is disappointing but there were some excuses and I remember a time when crowds of that number and less were a pretty regular occurrence. That some people use the figure as a pretext to take potshots (on both sides) is also disappointing. The attitude of the pond scum over at another forum which I won't name is even more disappointing.

the romance of leichhardt is flavor of the month and I do love the place, but in reality that will pass and something else will be trendy.
10 years ago leichhardt was just another suburban ground with all the pros and cons that go with that I imagine it will be the case again soon enough

disagree 10000000 percent. its more than just a flavour. it represents the game.
the history is being ripped away piece by piece (most recently the shoulder charge).
the hill, the crap toilets, the wait in the car park. i love it.
im in my twenties and i'd prefer go to leichardt than SFS (even though its further away and less convenient) any day of the week.

the merger issues are with the "you have 56 percent, we have 44" type attitudes (which seem to be from the western suburbs side).

i've said it before. be grateful you have a team, the bears were ripped apart by manly and now have no representation at all. if you care so much about your share, DO SOMETHNING ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF BEING A WHINGER ON A FORUM! get people together for games, organise stuff, make it happen. just quit your freaking sob stories.

No sob stories from you if we play all our game at Allianz?

Seriously? :deadhorse:

Why are you putting the supporter base into two categories? why is it just the Magpies fans responsibility to get to C-town games? does it mean just Balmain fans are responsible for Leichhardt? why aren't you putting the responsibility on WT's fans as a whole? i don't get how in you're OP you are criticizing others for not having moved on yet you're dividing the supporter base a couple posts later

Okay replace "Magpies" supporters with "local" if you want to argue over little details. We can truly re-evaluate whether it's a local issue if this happens again. So we shall wait until the next Campbo game to see if it was an anomaly caused by everyone having their period at the same time or whatever.

Are you disputing the fact that Magpies fans exist or what? I don't get it.

I'm disputing the fact why you are putting the onus on that section of our supporter base? you are sounding like our CEO with that kind of talk

Dividing the supporter base into two sections isn't a little detail i don't think.

I'm beginning to wonder if we actually have a big supporter base in the Macarthur region - whether they be old Maggies or Tigers supporters or the new generation of JV supporters?
The traditional clubs supporters were from the western suburbs and inner west originally - the 'Macarther' Wests area is not that old.
Be an interesting marketing exercise to find out where people attending the games actually hail from - and not too hard to do.

If thats the case then its up to the club to put as much emphasis into securing the area as there own cos if what you are suggesting is true than the the area is not secure
