How quick some people on this forum have turned on Thompson. Everyone was singing his praises before and after one bad game people are happy to see him walk.

Well Proszenko has got two different lots of mail today then! Firstly he's left and now that he's staying?

A 2 year deal is ok if he's not on too much

Congrats Corey. Glad you're staying and a 2 year contract I think is fair to both parties. You've earned it. Well done WT. A good commonsense outcome.

@2005magic I'm a bit stoic about the signing tbh. Yes he's a great guy and a solid player but i'd love to have a couple of fast, tall wingers. Can't remember the last time we had that. And i'd hope this doesn't limit Bradley's chances at having a crack in 1st grade.

Def not that....

I think it is simply that he is clearly limited. When was the last time he scored a barge over try one on one in the corner? Bigger wingers score those, and he is clearly not a FB.

29-31 are not years small wingers improve...

Terrific fella and tries hard, but him (and Chee Kam) means medicority. I guess, by now, people on this forum would like a bit more class in the squad.

Thread title needs to be changed.

Good news if true. I'm not worried about money. He isn't going to be on 300-400k. Common sense really.

I certainly haven't turned - have never been a great fan. He does his job which should be expected from every player at NRL level. The fact that he is our most consistent player says more about how bad we are than how good he is.

This has been an issue of the WTs for a few years now...Other clubs know it and exploit it...The game has changed in the way outside backs are used (think attacking aerial ping pong) I don’t think you can afford to carry to many small guys on the fringes anymore those days are well and truly over (and ours also lack the speed) unfortunately for us at the moment the likes of the Latrell Mitchell’s/Suliasi Vunivalu’s & Greg Inglis’s types of the NRL world are always going to lord it over our smaller slower players.

@Tigerlily Exactly. And even though he's not very popular on this forum, Jennings was excellent under the high ball last week vs NQ. Height and size matters on the wing these days.

@Tigerlily I'm sure he is on limited money, and you need guys like CT in your squad. That said, it would be great if we recruit the right players and Corey is playing CC. He would be a terrific depth player because of his attitude and versatility. If he is still our number 1 or 2 winger next year - problems. Similar with Marshall and Farah. Great to have as depth, but major concerns if they are still regulars in the NRL team.

I hope Tim Mannah and Corey waived to each other both times they passed on their way in/out (respectively), around the round-a-bout, then back out/in.

At the end of the day it’s a business and should be run as such...Hard decisions have to be made every day in business - weather it’s popular or not...You have to take you’re emotions out of it and not think with the heart...After all, the end goal surely is to win another grand final or at least be consistently in the finals is it not?

Agree WT size wise backs- we were caught out too much with both Funoa and Thompson playing but with Funoa being told no new contract and Thompson re-signing I'm happy. We can afford to have 1 good small back available, not 2.
