THREE CUBS MAKE AUST SCHOOLBOYS TEAM
Friday, July 17, 2009
Wests Tigers is pleased to advise members and supporters that three of its promising young Cubs players have been chosen in the Australian Schoolboys Opens Team.

Winger Faleula Finau (Balmain SG Ball, Matraville Sports High), prop Matthew Groat (Western Suburbs SG Ball, St Gregs College Campbelltown) and back-rower Daniel Ahsin (Western Suburbs SG Ball, Endeavour Sports High) have been chosen for the two Test game series against England.

The First Test will be held on Saturday, August 15, at Canberra Stadium at 5.15 pm. This game will be a curtain raiser to the Canberra Raiders vs St George Illawarra Dragons game.

The Second Test will be held at St Marys Leagues Stadium on Friday, August 21, at 7pm.

“Wests Tigers congratulate Faleula, Matthew and Daniel on their selection,’’ said Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell.

“Their selection follows on from Junior Roqica and Aaron Woods making the same team in 2008\. Both are now playing for the Wests Tigers in the Toyota Cup competition.

“It means the Wests Tigers Cubs program has now had five players chosen in the Australian Schoolboys teams over the past two seasons.’’

I'm surprised Groat made it actually. He didn't have a dominating year for Wests in SG Ball after excelling in Harold Mathews the year before. Is seen as a bright prospect by those in charge at camp Concord though.

Congratulations to all three cubs.

That is impresive IMO….can't bag the club for identifying young talent...
