Just watching him play today his defence is terrible. Why people haven't got stuck into him is beyond me. His playing behind the Australian front row. Has a good halfback outside him. Yet cowboys won't play semis this year. Plus what's he getting paid 1 million a year. And people want Benjis blood please

Why would we get stuck into him?
We WANT them, all the opposition to go crap.
I can bet theres plenty on their forums getting stuck into him….and all of their team, just like we do here

The sydney media is a bit more cut throat than the Townsville local rag I assume….plus we have basically blackballed one major media org and they see fit to retaliate by constant smear campaigns...they dont need a lack of form by a player to rip in
 
Best Player in the World… He stood up in Game 3 last year with mixed form, and will do the same Wednesday week to make it 8.

This is what the champion players do!
 
Have I not been saying for years this is the most overated player of all time?? his team fails every year they crap on about how great they look on paper can't win anything away from home at all, and it's the same old story

the team in 2004 almost made the grand final and were robbed by the refs and ohh guess what THURSTON WAS NOT IN THE TEAM!!

In 2004 Thurston was at the Bulldogs that season and played for Steve Price in the grand final. I think he gave him the premiership ring too.

It's a very valid point. He gets called the best player in the game but hasn't been able to lead the Cowboys to any premiership success. For me the best player in the game would have done that.

Yeah Thurston whilst a good player has really built his reputation around his time in the QLD and AUS teams. Around the better players he has excelled. I wouldn't so much say he's overrated. More over hyped than anything.

Couldn't agree more, he is by FAR the most overrated player to EVER play the game. He is a good player and can turn a game on his day but you get wankers like daley in particular (who just listening to him on fox sports commentating dropped the IQ of every listener by 50 points) who will flog him off till their palms bleed. For example he will put in a crap crossfield kick that falls 15 metres out from the line graham afl takes it , beats 5 players and flick passes it infield to Kane Linnet who then carries two players over the line….what do you hear "how about the kick from thurston, what vision what a player he truly is the best" f off seriously.

And to the genius who thought he was in the cowboys team, you sir are a moron - he won the premiership with the bulldogs making a late cameo from the bench. Nathan Fien and david myles spear headed the cowboys charge, i used to like them pre 2005, they had honest hard working players that went about the job with minimal fuss - enter thurston who helps them to the same heights as the previous year albeit behind a stronger pack and better back line and suddenly he is a magician where is nathan fien was "ok"...NO. On the note of his worth, you need only look at his salary and then the cowboys fortunes over the past few years and in particualar this season. When you invest so heavily to the point of 1m a season pretty much on a player who isn't worth it the results are mirrored. Benji is currently on 550k, he is playing like a 100k player yes, but when you consider players like thurston who are on 800k are playing just as poorly and yet nothing is mentioned and in fact "brilliance" is still heaped on them, it is sickening

Just like Wally Lewis did NOTHING at club level, I don't think Lewis even played a semi final game ???
