Respectfully, you are missing the point. For every other half? OK, which of these players, on current form and on the open market, is worth $650-700k.

Benji
Brooks
Madden
Walters
J Rey
MBye

Brooks is . Because that’s what other teams would have to pay for him. None of the others are first grade halves/no longer regarded in that way.
So I would value him at that price point. The rest are exactly my point about reclamation projects or rookies . Where are you getting your valuations from ? Your perception ? Ok I’ll try and say it another way .
David Fifita does the roosters or storm pay a back rower 1 mil dollars in today’s nrl ? Probably not .
But do you think that’s a bad deal for the titans ? I don’t at all. To them it’s totally worth it .

Do I think brooks would get 650k on the open market right now . Yep! yes I do ! The dogs would definitely pay that . So would the warriors. Maybe even the titans , and storm . Because they do not have a half . And they’re like gold , even if you hate them lump of gold you look at every day cause it’s deformed and lumpy . It’s still gold

Josh Reynolds finally is worth way more to the bulldogs than he ever will here . Which is why they were crazy not to grab his final year of the contract . They’re going no where fast . And someone who bleeds blue and white would lift them IMO both in wins and other things . Benji is proof of this . Does he play on so long with any other club. The clear answer was no , as no one wanted him when signed for minimum wage with us. But to us about jrey , the dogs would be getting ripped off if they took that contract off of us.

We’re like the opposite of moneyball. Just assemble a team in the most wasteful, overvalued way possible 😂

Almost everyone is rather overestimated

Because almost everyone had underformed in their position, and Harry hasnt done enuff after just 12 games or so
Many are unemployable at any price in NRL

Interesting, one says I'm way too high and one says way too low 🙂

Usually the general theme with player salary discussions... We all have no idea and it's a waste of time

I agree ink, the other moving part which muddies the waters In terms of player valuations is the possible quid pro quo back door deals which become part of transfer negotiations.

I'm a little bored tonight and was mulling over the true worth of our players. Specifically, what they'd be worth on the open market based on their current form.

Feel free to play "The Price is Right" with those who've played first grade this year. What would you pay for them on the open market? When I consider what we pay our players versus what think they're worth you get a decent idea of why we under-perform.

These are listed in descending order based purely on what I (or another team) would be willing to pay on the open market. FWIW, I think there's 28 players and it totals close to the salary cap figure.

Harry Grant - $900 - Too expensive $650/$750k

Nofo - $550k - Worth ever Cent

Mbye - $550k as a half/fullback - On $950k paying overs

Brooks - $500k - On $775k - Paying overs (Price $650k)

Doueihi - $475k as a centre - On $600k Over Price Ok

Aloiai - $450k - Sounds ok

LL Cool - $450k - Sounds ok

BJ - $450k - Paying Overs - Price Ok

Packer - $425k - Worth Nil

Musgrove - $350k - Does he play for us lol

Twal - $350k - Worth more $400/$450k

J Reynolds - $325k - Worth Nil like packer

Liddle - $300k - Full season worth more

Mikaele - $300k - About right

Talua - $275 - About right

McIntyre - $250k - Better forward than others $300k

Blore - $250k - About right

Benji - $225k - Reasonable Price

Eiso - $225k - Have to be $250k based on others

Garner - $225k - $350/$400k

Lawrence - $225k* - About Right

Billy Walters - $200k - Min $250k

Asu Kepaoa - $200k - About Right

Jennings - $200k - About right

Chee Kam - $200k* - About right

ET - $175k* - $250k

Seyfarth - $130 - Why keep

Hoffman - $130k - Development only

* Marked down a bit based on leaving or not playing.

Just some feedback we all know we are paying overs for a number of key players and can't off load at any price, will take another season and hard work to sort out in 2022.

There is also not that much talent available looking at other clubs best two have maybe 3 key signing and develop our young playing group and keep some $ in the kitty so when they come good we can pay them more and retain.

Quite a few bargains there.

300k for Liddle is the bargain of the century.

I know your related but that’s all he’s worth at the moment
And I DO rate him !

If Grant in this scenario is worth 800 - Liddle is worth more than 300.

Grant isn’t worth that at the moment..
He can’t even play a full 80 mins

That type of money should only be given to the players that have proven their worth to a club over a long period of time.
