Tiger Talk: Adam Blair

Thursday 12 July 2012 1:48 PM

Wests Tigers second-rower Adam Blair is confident the team will bounce back from its recent form slump when they tackle Penrith at Campbelltown Sports Stadium this Saturday night.

Blair expresses his thoughts in the Club's weekly Tiger Talk column in the Campbelltown Advertiser.
He will miss the game through a one week suspension.

Blair's Banter
Crunch time – it’s an old cliché in sport but one that is very true for Wests Tigers.

Our game against Penrith Panthers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium this Saturday night is just that. It is a big game for us and one we really need to win to keep our finals campaign on track.

I’ll admit it has been a tough few weeks for the club both on and off the field but I can assure Wests Tigers fans that as a playing group, we are very tight and close.

We just have to fight our way through tough period. We have got 8 rounds left to really make an impact and make the finals.

The run home won’t be easy as we play a number of quality sides above us but you have to keep faith, just like we did earlier in the season when most people had written us off. We strung together 7 wins in a row and I know that with the quality of players and commitment we have in this team, we can string a few more wins together.

We also can’t seem to take a trick with injuries, losing Lote Tuqiri last Friday night for the rest of the season with a broken arm. This is a massive loss to the team as Lote offers so much experience and class. We all feel for him.

In saying that, we are hoping to get Gareth Ellis, Tim Moltzen and Matt Utai back from injury for the Panthers game. Penrith are a tough side and I know from our last encounter against them in round 7, what a physical side they are. Like us, they like to play some expansive football so we need to contain their forwards early and not let them control the match.

Fortunately for us, the match is being played at our home ground in Campbelltown, a ground I enjoy playing at as the fans are very close to the action.

The boys and I are hoping to see a much larger crowd there this time than the last match against the Cowboys. We love nothing better than seeing a sea of Wests Tigers flag and banners when we run out on to the field. I still think Wests Tigers supporters are the most passionate and loyal in the game, so come on, get behind us and help lift us to victory.

Gates open at 4.45pm with the NYC match at 5.15pm and the NRL game at 7.30pm. Supporters in Campbelltown can purchase tickets at the official Wests Tigers Gearzone store in Macarthur Square up until 5.30pm on Saturday. You can also get all your Wests Tigers merchandise. Check it out, it is a great store.

So, Wests Tigers fans, I urge you again to stick with us and keep the faith. I know we can do it!
