Tiger Talk column: Chris Heighington

Wests Tigers forward Chris Heighington says he can't wait to rip into the Bulldogs at Allianz Stadium on Friday night to help the team hopefully return to the winners circle.

In the Club's weekly Tiger Talk column in the Campbelltown Advertiser, Heighington has called on Wests Tigers supporters to come out in force and help lift the team to victory.

Heighington's Hindsight

Friday night footy against a red hot Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs – bring it on!

As a sportsman, there is nothing better than testing yourself against the best and in my eyes, the Bulldogs are one of the very best teams in the Telstra Premiership. They are the form team of the competition and are running second on the ladder, just behind the Melbourne Storm, who they beat in Mackay in their last match.

The Bulldogs have a very big forward pack who if you allow to dominate up front, will provide plenty of room for their talented backs and in particular, full-back Ben Barba. He is a real excitement machine but from our point of view, I hope he does fire too much at Allianz Stadium (formerly SFS) this Friday night.

Like the Bulldogs, we head into the match on the back of a bye last weekend but the difference is, they are going into the match on the back of the win over the Storm where we are going in on the back of a very disappointing loss to Newcastle away. To lead 14-0 early and then allow 38 points point to be put on us was not acceptable. We are still hurting from that loss and I speak on behalf of all the players when I say Friday can’t come quick enough and the chance to redeem ourselves.

What a big game it will be too. The Bulldogs and Wests Tigers encounters are always enthralling matches and there is a good healthy rivalry between the two clubs. We respect them very much.

For us, it is about going back to the basic fundamentals and sticking to our game plan that Tim Sheens provides us. It worked so well in our seven game winning streak but for some reason or another, we went away from it in periods during our last two losses.

Like I said, I can’t wait to get to Allianz Stadium. I know Wests Tigers have been working very hard behind the scenes to ensure we get a large crowd at the game. We know the Bulldogs fans will be out in force so I challenge Wests Tigers supporters to not be outnumbered on our home turf. We need you to help lift us in what I’m sure will be one of the games of the year.

To help make it easier for families to attend, Wests Tigers are offering the opportunity for supporters to purchase kids General Admission tickets for just $5\. Bargain! Tickets can be pre-purchased or are available up until kick off at weststigers.com.au

I hope to see a sea of Wests Tigers banners and flags waving in the crowd when I run out onto Allianz Stadium. We need you! See you there.

and i hope to see you Chris & the team play for 80 mins tonight.

Don't hold your breath, they havent been able to do this for years now,why will tonight be any different, even when they win they have periods where they let in 2 or 3 quick tries, sometimes more,Sheens obviously doesn't know the answer,so we can only hope.

Heignington admitted after the game that they didn't play 80 mins, he obviously doesn't read this forum.
