When Madge first arrived at our club, many were saying he is a good coach but players cant handle his training regime,it lead to believe that's why he left Souths and why apparently Matto left...

But put all that aside and evaluate what he has done so far at our club and with this squad...
they are playing better football, striving for the 80 minute game, believing in each other and there is a change of culture developing within the club..

The biggest thing for me is that Madge appears to be a true man manager,as Luci said" Madge believes in me"...
That is the main thing anyone either athlete, coach or manager has to have to excel ""BELIEF""...
And I think that is whats happening now at our club...
Its got to be a good thing don't you guys and girls agree....

Too early to tell TT , looks good but if the players burnout like what happened at Souths ....

Do we *really* know that is what happened out Souffs? That is the narrative, but Ive heard its just as likely he was whiteanted by Siebold and based on Seibolds subsequent efforts, its as likely IMO,

No you’re right we don’t! I’ve often thought the whole narrative around Madge being too hard a coach was BS. Seibold’s whiteanting in 2 clubs now speaks volumes, imo. Not only that, what is too hard a training regime for an NRL squad anyway? How did teams like the Roosters and the Storm win their Premierships if not for extra hard work put into training - a premiership won’t just fall into your lap if you don’t work hard for it!

Besides the Souths rumour, which was most likely Seibold’s doing, the only other complaint about Madge’s coaching regime was Wuss Matterson and we all know what kind of weak character he has. The rest of the team can’t heap enough praise on Madge as a person or his coaching methods. Even a 35 Benji has no problem with it! So I think the whole thing is a furphy.

I think Madge is getting the best out of the players we have, and people know what sort of a coach he is. I believe he is pushing the club in the right direction with some very astute signings and showing our juniors that he has faith that they can do the job, and by creating those pathways.
I feel that we are in for good times ahead.....

There was a poster here that said that was the case..seemed very genuine and made sense to me..The other narrative sounds cooler..

On Leilua was a great signing..

Or do we just ignore the interview Madge gave early in his tenure as our coach and admitting he'd learnt from his mistakes in regards to this exact subject ??

That interview was in relation to playing style..and evolving as a Coach..and adapting his plans to suit the players he has at his disposal..He coached St Helens differently to he did at Souff's as he does here at Wests Tigers

Never heard him say hard work or working players hard at training needed to change..You mentioned Storm and Rorters before ..it has always been said they train at above game level intensity so when it comes to the game and fatigue it's automatic for them because they have trained for it..

Marshall has mentioned this many times..

I remember the interview too. I thought there was a couple of comments in there where you could read between the lines to say he had taken some lessons to be a better man manager.

He's not going to come out and directly say that it was an issue.

Our boys certainly seem to like him. Plenty have re-signed because Madge, notably Mikaele was homesick wanting to go back to QLD but Madge managed to keep him here.

Turning into a real good player

Hopefully he can become a enforcer like Gareth Ellis was

I agree Boss,he has the right mindset and with coach Maguire having belief in him there is no way Luci cant be as good if not better a backrower as Gareth...and I was a firm supporter of GE when he signed with us and he didn't disappoint..

We needed Madge when we signed him and we knew what we were getting. He knows how to work with players to build on their unique skills and we are seeing that now with LL. We are building some momentum and winning is infectious on morale. I think we have turned the corner but we’ll see how far tonight.

When we played the Dragons before this year, Luciano was a player I worried about. I could see his potential. Then we signed him & BJ, people told me BJ was a great signing, but told them I think Luciano is better. He can fill Matterson's role & some.

There's one thing my football coach use to say to us regularly, you can't coach enthusiasm. Something these Leilua boys are spreading to the Tigers, along with Reynolds. Enthusiasm & attitude is a mental thing that comes from each individual player. If 1 player lacks it, then there's a weak link in the chain.

It's still quite early in the season, and I'm seeing the chain getting stronger.

I remember last year there was talk of beef between siebold and madge for that reason and there has been interviews on bloke in a bar podcast where former souths players have talked about madges bootcamps and that Ben Teo pretty much undermined madge and said he wouldnt do anymore.

I think Leilua is going good so far and there is plenty of potential for him to improve as a footballer
