The crazineess is well and truly back. Meltdowns over Nines and trial losses, now we need to throw the kitchen sink, including the captaincy to a player whose played less than 50 games because he scored two tries in a Mickey Mouse game. I’m not above making stupid comments, but I feel like Frank Grimes, reading this tripe the last week.

If you can't see that Brandon Smith is already a superstar, then I don't know what to say to you mate...

Captaincy? Yes, and I said that as he has mongrel and leadership skills.

Because of two tries in a 'mickey mouse game'? No...because of two seasons now of elite level footy when on the field.

Anyone who can’t see how good a player Brandon Smith, must not know much about footy.

1 of the most exciting at the moment

"I have got to look after the Storm," Grant said.

"I don’t want to be selfish and leave when they are looking for a back-up hooker with Brandon out."

That is the end of that IMO.

For those of you saying he might still come after week 4-6....that would be pointless for a one season rental. It would take a hooker a month to even learn the sets and calls.

Looks like Mbye to 9 then.

At least Moses is going to earn those big $$$ playing in the middle every week.

Why not Walters? I'd lean more toward it being him if Benji stays fit.

Walters is probably a better choice, but Moses is captain and I doubt Madge will leave out one of his leaders.

With Momo staying, center looks well covered now
Momo / Talau
BJ / Johns

Seems no need for Mbye at center.

Thus presuming he will play 9 (Madge said he has trained there all off season)

True. Let's hope he's trained well at 9. Looking at our team we do have centre covered quite well, possibly even without Momo.

Forget Talau for this year. Needs a lot of work on his defence.

Johns is a smokey. The lad looks to be the real deal. Could be anything.

????

if the storm are willing to give Grant his release, I don't think we'll see him until around Rd 3 or 4. while it would be ideal to have him at Concord asap, given our draw in the first few weeks I don't think we will struggle without him with either Walters or M'Bye at 9, simply due to the strength of our opponents.

Brandon Smith is out 2-4 weeks, so he’ll be back round 3 at the latest. Hopefully sooner so we can get Grant ASAP.

Storm have a tough choice to make, they either strengthen us for a year with little benefit or they don’t release him and risk him wanting to leave the club completely

That to me means the first few rounds would be an ideal time to let him loose and learn the players around him, so come round 4 he is going full steam, seems a waste to get him and put him in reggies for 3 weeks.

just don't think with Smith going down with a facial fracture that they'll allow Grant to move to WT until he's fit again.

Can we ask Isaac to tell him to chuck a Moses? Hahaha all jokes aside where is Melbourne’s compassion?

Still has Vunivalu for a powerful winger and the best young + Oldest ever hooker to play the game in their stocks and are finding a reason to squabble over releases? If this was going on with us at any time over the past 2 seasons we’d have been a shooting gallery in the media.

Well this is the 1st time it's been reported that Grant has 'officially' asked for a release supposedly on Monday which is after B Smith's injury was known..

You would think Grant would have cooled his heals but given B Smith doesn't normally replace Cammy anyway ..just comes on as a running forward ..perhaps Grant feels he would be just riding the pine anyway even with B Smith out....

Not a good look for the Storm to disgruntle a player even further...

Exactly. With B Smith out they're more likely to replace him with a lock/forward. Grant would only come on to replace C Smith, and unless they're going to push him from hooker just to make room for a kid i don't see Grant getting game time.

No, he's the tall ranga. About 191cm, rarely dominated, light footed outside back that scores tries.

There’s even a direct quote of him saying ‘I want a release’. Makes me think he has asked for one - I was wary of the James Hooper article because he’s James Hooper.

I've watched Cini a little and he is a talent but is a centre or 5/8, not a winger. He has good evasive skills and regularly beats the first defender. He is a tall player and you expect him to be dominated at that age. Far more important than doing "dirty hit ups" and not being dominated, he can score tries. You need to remember most of these young players were in the Flegg team last year not CC. With their taste of the NRL, you can expect them to work on their games.

The young man has talent. I saw enough in him to suggest with a full season in the CC he will progress through to the NRL. His ability to get on the outside of his opponent to create opportunities is refreshing to watch.

Johns to me has a very one dimensional game and needs to learnt to pass and set up his winger especially since he is not overly blessed with pace. I would expect him to put his head in the second row. How many more strong but slow backs do we require?
