Tigers board to undertake post-season review

That may be the most pathetic gains column I have ever seen.

It's an outstanding losses column though 🙂

And any gains column in early September is pretty premature, the majority of signings are always made in the offseason

I hate the crap excuse of “the front office”. The front office don’t coach the players into missing tackles and where they place their 5th tackle kicks.

Guess Jack Gibson was wrong then. And politis does nothing for Easts. Give us a break

Well Politis recruits well.. he doesn’t coach his team do tackle does he? As first grade players earning 200k+++ they should know how to defend

I would have thought we’d only interview guys who can tackle

Wow the optics on this are bad.

I think the narrative needs to turn around and it be seen for what it is. its a fantastic opportunity for the RIGHT individual. It didn't work for Michael Maguire. Acknowledge it and move on.

Lets put things into context.

There is an opportunity for a Head Coach to lead one of the most popular teams in the NRL. There are only ever 16 roles available at any given time and those roles don't necessarily come up regularly.

The new coach walks into a state of the art training facility

The new coach has significant salary cap to spend

The Tigers have an elite group of youngsters coming through

The Tigers fans are so desperate for success that any improvement will be celebrated

If you're someone like Cameron Ciraldo, surely you'd jump at the opportunity. Are you likely to get a chance at Penrith anytime soon? You have a pre-existing relationship with the Tigers Club Captain, as well as a couple of the younger players and you have a mentor in Tim Sheens.

Now all of that might not be absolutely on the money, but that's the way it should be sold!

I knew the truth was out there.
Thank goodness - clarity is everything.

Before you get yourself more in a twist, the true points are that:

(a) An independent review will take a long time to award, conduct and present - too long to result in an effective head coach decision for 2022

(b) Clubs do internal reviews all the time and there's no reason why this one has to be any different - any other clubs having external independent appointments to review season 2021?

(c) The club isn't mandated to do an independent review by any stakeholder or charter, it's their own decision

(d) Even if there is an independent review, the review goes confidentially back to 100% non-independent assessors (the board). If they are being accused of sweeping things under the carpet with an internal-only review, they wouldn't do any different with the findings of an independent review.

(e) If Tim Sheens is involved, you can argue he is independent as a brand new employee with no recent history at the club. Same as Phil Gould did review work for Panthers, Warriors and now Bulldogs, whilst under their employment.

That's nice my point is the board Pascoe or hartigan aren't being reviewed so what will change

I hear it’s 50/50. Maguire has his supporters and detractors on the board. The detractors are looking at a Sheens-led recovery with either Wolff or our old mate Johnny Cronk working the witch’s hats.

“The purpose is to consider the things the club did well, the things it did not do well and how we can improve.”

“It is the same review the club undertook last year and the year before.” Lee. H

The same review?
The same review that resulted in the team going backwards on the NRL ladder?

INSANE.

Clearly the review into what the club did not do well “last year and the year before” was review their review of the team’s underperforming performances.

Lee must think we are all stupid. What a load of rubbish, a independent review was the only way to go. Can’t see Pascoe giving himself a poor report

It is a review of the football department. Pascoe is not part of the football department

So John Morris is going to leave one Assistant role at arguably a far more successful club to work as an assistant at another. The only real draw is for him to work with the same bloke that coached him a decade ago?

He's assistant to a fairly young coach at Souths. If he's given a succession plan to take over from Sheens it's a more desirable option imo

Who says he couldn’t take over at Souths? By default not by white anting that is?

Jason Demetriou has been earmarked as the coach to take over Wayne Bennet. Highly regarded. I doubt Morris will take over souths.

Demetriou is only 45, he's going to be in the role for a while unless things go very pear shaped.

Sure, I agree but he is pretty much in the Josh Hannah spot.
Why didn’t Morris look to come here if he had an interest in coaching at the club? Could of signed him for 21. He made his decision to go to Souths after the Sheenius was announced coming back.
