I hear it’s 50/50. Maguire has his supporters and detractors on the board. The detractors are looking at a Sheens-led recovery with either Wolff or our old mate Johnny Cronk working the witch’s hats.

Johnny Cronk?

John Morris

So John Morris is going to leave one Assistant role at arguably a far more successful club to work as an assistant at another. The only real draw is for him to work with the same bloke that coached him a decade ago?

He's assistant to a fairly young coach at Souths. If he's given a succession plan to take over from Sheens it's a more desirable option imo

Who says he couldn’t take over at Souths? By default not by white anting that is?

Jason Demetriou has been earmarked as the coach to take over Wayne Bennet. Highly regarded. I doubt Morris will take over souths.

Sure, I agree but he is pretty much in the Josh Hannah spot.
Why did Morris look to come here if he had an interest in coaching at the club? Could of signed him for 21. He made his decision to go to Souths after the Sheenius was announced coming back.

He was sacked from his club. Madge wasn't under enormous amounts of pressure at the time. Souths sought Morris and told him we want you to be an assistant coach at the club. Not sure why WT would pursue him when there wasn't a need to unless it was for an assistant coaches role like souths. As it stands, it looks like Madge is gonna get the tap on the shoulder and we are on the hunt for a coach. The top job is now an incentive for him.

I'm the odd one out. I see nothing wrong with the comments made by Hagipantelis in the media today around the club review.

***Roach hinted*** that the problems are just not the coach, and i would like to know if it's the whole management. Seriously, we have gone backwards since our premiership shock win. Losing key players Teddy, Moses, and Woods was massive, but we show no sign of an upward trend.
Does Managment overule Hartigan and or the coach owing to being gun shy after previous bad signings?
Why does a club with close to 2 mil dollars, miss out on TPJ, Burton, Critchton and at least 5 other players, to sides who finished behind us last year? Who signed the crap second raters and reject Souths players? The whole club needs a cleanout, but who sacks the commitee ?

You lost me at "Roach hinted". If you are basing an argument or question on what Steve Roach "thinks", it has limited merit.

Knows footy 100 times more than the pretenders making decisions at WT. Lee says we have a good roster ??‍♂️

Lee is a lawyer, that’s says it all.

I have no gripes with lawyers but him holding up Tommy’s #7 was it for me.

It means he knows little about what makes a good Rugby League roster. Spent all his time going up the Lawyer ranks, which doesn’t leave much time for understanding Rugby League. He’s a fan who gives us money, that’s all.

That is a generalisation. I don't think he knows much about the game but that has very little to do with him being a lawyer.

To get where he is in the lawyers ranks means he wouldn’t have much time for anything else, let alone understanding Rugby League, other than from a fan perspective.

You just don't know that mate.

Experience tells me so.

Are you saying that is why you know so little about the game? 😛

Hahahahaha. That’s just me being a nuffie, but no my experience working with lawyers tells me Lee wouldn’t have the time to know anything else to get where he is.

Yeah we should be like the big boys at the top end of the NRL and appoint Chairmen with massive Rugba League experience:

Storm - Matt Tripp - Betting Company
Panthers - Dave O'Neill - Licensed Clubs
Souffs - Nick Pappas - Lawyer
Manly - Scott Penn - Health products
Roosters - Nick Politis - Car Salesman
Parra - Sean McElduff - Nanker (not rhyming slang)
Knights - Brian McGuigan - Winemaker
Titans - Dennis Watt - New Ltd Executive

But yeah, our Chairman should have more Rugba League in him despite the fact he has been one of the largest sponsors of Rugba League for over 10 years.

Seriously a lot of people here have a weird idea of what Lee's role is.

Tell me about it but people keep questioning his Rugba League creds. Go figure. He’s the head of a very successful law firm and has been on a few committees and so forth but people want him to have Rugba League nous, I don’t.

The actual coach can't coach so we need Lee to be able to do it for him.

No your right.

That’s why he doesn’t exclusively sponsor us.
Brydens Lawyers sponsor the Refs
The junior league
The State of Origin NSW blues
The woman’s team
The Rabbitohs
The knights
Sydney Kings
Mounties
Enough fingers in enough pies to ensure he at least strikes gold with one of the partners

No it doesn’t.

Businesses sponsor more out of charity.
It’s a tax right off and a opportunity for exposure.

Hence my list I provided.

Do you think people will look at a team failing to perform and say wow I don’t think I’ll be considering that business, this team sucks?

We are more at risk having a local business sponsor us then he is sponsoring us.

The fact you don't know the answer is your answer. Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. If there is they are, for the majority in the background. Doing the job and not using the football club as a launching pad into a media career.

The guy obviously enjoys the media and being involved in it and , in my opinion, leveraging his position to do that.

People are worried about juniors or attracting players, the club has basically become a meme. Between TV shows showing how armature they are, Pascoe's antics, coaches coming and going, players like Nuffa getting life contracts....its a joke. Who, with any real desire to play in the NRL at the top level would come there?

I really hoped Lee was going to be the type of guy that got deals done in back rooms and behind the curtain. Instead we got the ringmaster of the circus.

I was answering about conflict between the 2 positions.
I am sure that having a successful team would benefit his sponsorship tremendously as for his chair position, he is by all accounts a pretty smart bloke and operator, he was already on the board and was invited to be chairman, is how I understand it?

I hear it’s 50/50. Maguire has his supporters and detractors on the board. The detractors are looking at a Sheens-led recovery with either Wolff or our old mate Johnny Cronk working the witch’s hats.

It would be great to have bomber back at WTs with Sheens providing guidance as necessary. IMO he did well at the Sharks under difficult circumstances and has WT DNA.
