Tigers coach Potter impressed with Tedesco

let's be patient guys , i feel we have the core of a good squad with in 2 years can see massive things happening in terms of the succes of our club…..
 
I took 3 things from that article

1\. Potter wants to give teddy some time in NSW cup before promoting him to 1st grade fb
2\. During this time he wants teddy to talk up more & communicate better from the back
3\. If moltzen is to stay with the Tigers it won't be at fb.

Not sure of his thoughts on miller tho. Or who his replacement would be if miller is dropped, possibly brooks seeing as he has skipped NYC and moved straight into NSW cup (although his D probably isn't up to scratch). Either way I'm hoping miller gets 6-8 weeks to prove himself.

Reports of the nsw cup said brooks was solid in defence, opposition threw second rowers at him and he stood fast.
 
I wonder if Potter may even be considering Brooks

I've heard from a few people he has a huge opinion of him

I Imagine he will give Miller 8-10 rounds to see if he can make the spot his own and if not …..

I think Moltzen will be fullback Round 1 , but I don't agree with the call

Won't last though , he'll get peppered with bombs and the old Moltz will shine through
 
Lol I said in like November last year that I thought Brooks was gonna get first grade time in 2013 and I was uproariously laughed out of whatever thread it was in. I'm not crowing just yet but I'm certainly warming up the pipes. I don't know why it was considered such a long shot tbh. He's already older than Lawrence and Galloway were when they debuted and the kid has been declared by Andrew Johns of all people. If Brooks keeps smashing it in NSW cup Potter will be going out of his way to find an excuse to try him in the top grade. Coaches love nothing more than unearthing the next big thing and Potter is oiling Brooks up as we speak.
 
Moltzen will be fullback maybe Tedesco on the wing but at this stage a couple more games in NSW cup I think would be of most benefit to Tedesco.

Just a note on Brooks…Goose on here talked him up a bit and I had never seen him play but after watching him play 3 games now he is outstanding.

Both Tedesco and Brooks seem to be humble and modest young men with a great work ethic and best of all they are from our own backyard.
 
you're definitely right macdougall, brooks is the future halfback of the tigers unless miller can step his game up a LOT in round 1/2\. Brooks comes with the added advantage of knowing his number 6, mitchel moses, inside out. played with him at school, sg ball, and national level. SO that sets up the team well for the post-benji era, probably around 3-4 years away given his health risks.

The tough part now is bringing them on and keeping the vultures away.
 
I am NOT entering the debate about the worth of or the best position for Tim Moltzen in the Wests Tigers NRL side in this post.
I am very much against the comments suggesting Tim has NOT been given a chance to prove himself. Here is his playing record for Wests Tigers NRL team:-
2008: Bench 3, Five-eight 3, Centre 2, Fullback 2
2009: Fullback 15, Halfback 5, Five-eight 1, Centre 1
2010: Fullback 2, Halfback 3
2011: Bench 5, Fullback 13, Halfback 3, Centre 5
2012: Fullback 15, Halfback 3, Five-eight 1
If after 82 games in four different positions in the Wests Tigers NRL team, there is still discussion about if he should be selected in the team and in what position, doesn't this suggest something?

Yes , it suggests he should have been left to play one position instead of being caught up in the Sheens shuffle with so many other players (to the detriment of them all)

If Moltzen is going to get another chance, that's cool. But he should be kept as far away from fullback as possible. Perhaps a spot in the broadcasters box would suit. If Moltzen is to be our fullback though we need to replace Utai, as much as I like him, with someone who can consistently catch a high ball. Having this pair on the field, at the back, at the same time, is asking for trouble. And I believe Miller needs a lot more than just 6-10 rounds to find his place.

After watching miller play he just hasn't got it way to slow and predictable, I've seen more from brooks and sironen and would rather have one of these in first grade come round one even if Marshall went to hb. Rather than wasting 2 months with miller, if he was that good sheens would of give in him more of a go over the last couple of years and I'm sure a coach with over 500 games as got some idea whether you love him or hate him didn't obviously rate him.

I think everyone saw on Saturday night what Teddy can bring at fullback, but I also saw he is missing a little in the timing you get from consistent footy.
I think a couple weeks in NSW cup & he will be starting fullback in NRL.
