Tigers Coaching Poll

If we are getting a new coach we need him him be signed before mid 2017 to allow him to scope the team situation and decide which players go and which new players come in. Appointing a new coach during 2018 would be far too late because any good new players the club could have negotiated to play for the club would by then have already been signed by other clubs. However judging the form of Wests Tigers management you have to wonder whether are aware of this.

Let him see out his miserable contract and if he wants a spoon on that record them it's up to him.
Let him dig us out or perish.

A spoon is probably what we deserve and need before things change.
So bring the wooden spoon.

We are in a good position for next year with Farah cap money to spend and barely anyone signed. By the looks of it we have dodged a bullet here by not having already extended bust 1 and bust 2\. Seriously if this was the NFL those two boys would be traded to the London Silly Nannies.

Farah money + those 2 I'm gonna say it's $2 million bucks to spend. Choosing not to re-sign Matt Ballin, Joel Edwards, Tim Grant, Watson Heleta, Justin Hunt, Jamal Idris, Kyle Lovett, Kevin Naiqama, Jordan Rankin as well, there's another $2 mill there probably (roughly 200k each player). So what does $4 million buy us on the open market? We need to replace the halves. So let's throw $450k or so at Tyrone Roberts. Shaun Nona, give him a min wage contract, good depth there. Ryley Jacks has looked okay at the Storm, give him a look in if they won't re-sign him. Oh Chad Townsend is off contract. Jordan Kahu too. That kid can play six and is a good goal kicker. Orrite so we're gonna sign Chad Townsend for like 650k, Jordan Kahu for 600k, Tyrone Roberts for 450k, re-sign Jack Littlejohn for $5 and we'll give Nona and Darren Nicholls reggies contracts for depth.

Oh what's that, the Storm have a ton of forwards off contract and so do the Roosters? Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Kane Evans, Felise Kaufusi and Aiden Guerra you say?

Catch my drift. We would be nuts to re-sign these idiots on anywhere near what they're asking for. We have a rare opportunity to do a full rebuild and if they want to be part of the fun they need to shut up and take what they're worth. Which right now for Brooks is probably $350k and Moses maybe $500k.

I like your thinking and exactly why the dragons have put a deadline on dugan. Either he signs to what they think he is worth or he moves on and they get into the open market before its too late. There are so many good players off contract and we hsve so much money. What we do with this will impact us for the next 3 - 5 years.

It's all fine replacing Taylor, but the replacement isn't as simple as snapping a finger and saying "replace him with this guy". There'll be a process taken with candidates interviewed. It could be 2 months till we find the right coach. It's not something we should rush into.

I agree it won't be easy finding a replacement but, it may snap the team back to life.

Especially in a scenario when they are chasing contracts. Once the coach is gone the excuses are gone and every one is on notice.

Not sure what the stats are but I'm sure according to most, teams improve after a coach is sacked during the season.

On the back of that the club offers teddy woods and Moses contracts reflective of their true value (not hyped value in the case of brooks and Moses) with a time limit. Sign or we all move on.

We need size all over the park Solomona, Evans, Kaufusi, Kasiano are big boys. We also need size out wide DWZ, Ferguson, SKD, Tupou. I still rate Moses highly but he is the only light weight we can carry and we need a coach that can run a game plan to cover our weaknesses.
Moses has shown he can play last year Brooks is the one who I let go, actually I wouldn't extend an offer.

I don't think we need size out wide. We just need talent. I want Kahu badly. He is perfect for us. Goal kicker, freak, great defender, can cover any backline position. We should be offering him Brooks's money.

Asofa-Solomona and Kaufusi would be high on my list yep.

We'll end up signing McQueen and maybe Tyrone Roberts after we lose Moses and re-sign Brooks on $900k and that'll be it. Love being a Tigers supporter.

I honestly don't know the answer - but in no way would I be extending him.

If you told me Cleary was ready to go I would be happy enough.

Payton - no way.

You don't want to do a Manly and go out and get a rookie who is learning the ropes.

1000% agree with this !
but yeah, ive been saying cleary for 12+ months now and i actually thought with the coincidence that 2 penrith guys came over to run the joint…cleary was a little bit of a obvious cal up.

now however, i think cleary will be tossing up manly or tigers as options.
i doubt he'll go to souths with rusty throwing his weight around and i doubt he'll go to the dogs as they will either confirm dezzy or seek someone out of their pound.......

If I were JT I'd quit tonight. Throw these jerks under the bus and give them the coach they want. Better to jump than be pushed. Watch the season implode and bask in ruining some jerk kids career with the glorious spoon.

JT needs to go. I dont care that he has 700k of the cap with Farah, that was his creation, just like the lack of defence we are seeing, despite a continued "emphasis" on it during preseason. We need some big bastards up front who can let our little guys do some work. Our pack is **wayy** too small. Need some size and mongrel because we have too many powderpuff players, who won't get dirty when the time comes calling.

Brooks can go, too long now for little return, promise means nothing if their are no results. Time to bring in a foil to Moses, bring in some decent outside backs who can Tackle and some forwards who are budging 100kgs, because we need mongrel!

Look we could have Bellamy as head coach ,with Toovey ,Cleary and Michael Hagan as his assistants and things wouldn't be better

I expected we'd have close to the worse defence but we have the worst attack as well

We bag out Parra ,Souths ,Manly ,Newcastle and Saint George , we don't have a foot to stand on

This squad isn't up to it , I said this pre season and was pummelled by many

The truth is painful and the pain is going to get worse

I dont think we have 2 months. Players we want to keep and players who we are chasing will need to know who the coach is. Keeping the players we want and bringing in players we need is probably even more important than who the coach will be. We could miss the boat on these Players if we keep delaying this.

It is time to make bold decisions **not do nothing and hope for a turnaround.**A continuation of JT and his ludicrous selections has to be terminated. He has to go for the future of our club.
A new coach may not turn around our fortunes this year but at least the players should understand what will be happening in the future.Only coaches and not verbose wannabees should apply.

I agree with this statement as I'm sure you have all heard Albert Einstein’s famous line: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

I have a feeling that JT has lost the dressing sheds and is being white anted by the players. Its simply not possible for them to be that bad!

The team lost less points without Farah than with him so everyone should be happy.

Almost 80% of the votes want JT gone now. Maybe the wests tigers management have been on the forum lol. So then they would be lining up Cleary as he is the most preffered option by the forum experts.

Ask the big 4 who they want as coach and then don't hire that coach.

Players don't get to choose coaches. It's just ridiculous.
What a soft sport the NRL has become. Both on the field and in the sheds.

Coaches treading on egg shells so not to upset players.
Jack Gibson would be turning in his grave.

Would we have to pay out JT's salary as he is contracted till the end or 2017 ? If so this is money we don't have….especially if we get another coach the calibre of Cleary ??

As much as I reckon Payten has the makings of a good coach, if the players are throwing their weight around and want him then that is a very dangerous place for the club to be.

Managers manage, coaches coach and players play, and that's the way it should be.

If Payten is employed then I will be concerned.
