Tigers could face ground controversy

If we are unable to get onto the SFS, then I think the only viable alternative is Parramatta Stadium. In the past both Balmain and Wests felt it was appropriate to host games here, so why not now. Beats having to choose between Leichhardt and Campbelltown.

i think its discusting that they even go near leichhardt oval its to small and to hard to get too

1.It's "disgusting" not "discusting"

2.Balmain and Wests died 10 years ago. It's Wests Tigers. If you want to wear your black and white beanie, go watch NSW Cup.

Bev is entitled to an opinion.
Bogan you summed up the arguement pretty well here. Wests and Balmain died 10 years ago so why do we play any games at Leichhardt. That's Balmains home ground. if you want to watch football at Leichhardt go watch NSW Cup there.
You said it!

Never once did I say support them playing at Leichhardt. I have already said earlier on in the thread that I believe it should be at the SFS.

Perhaps I jumped to a hasty conclusion because of the "Magpie" in Bev's name. I figured the post was Wests Vs. Balmain oriented. My point is that if Wests Tigers decide to play somewhere, fans should trust the club and support the idea. I personally don't think it will go ahead, but if they choose to go ahead with it, I'll be there whether its at Leichhardt, Campbelltown, the SFS or even Bluetounge for all I care.

You can't please everyone though.

Then don't go, simple as that. Sorry but if you are a Wests Tigers fan you would go anywhere where your team was playing especially a semi final.

In saying that, cracking first post by Magpie bev. Very funny. Wasn't there another thread of people being annoyed by baiting????

Yep Bev's pulled in some big fish for a first time poster. Well we assume it is and Bev isn't a provocateur using an alias but that kind of stuff wouldn't happen surely? 😱pen_mouth:

Depends who the finals game is against.

If its against an out of town team then Leichhardt and Campbelltown are an option.

If its against a Sydney rival then it should be held at the SFS. Remember you also have to provide tickets to the opposition members.

I thought the club signed a 4 year deal at the start of the year with the SCG Trust anyways. Which includes 4 games per season plus finals games.

The only reason to play it at LO or CS is if we get one of the Saturday home finals and the Roosters get the other.

Even if this happened I'm sure everyone could find a way to get both games played at the SFS. Anyway until we finish in the top 4 I'm not going to worry about it.

If it was against the Roosters I would still think we would out number them 2 to 1.

I gather the only reason it would be an issue is if the SFS was not available due to the Roosters playing on the same day.
I wonder if the deal specifies the SFS to be the finals ground or if the trust would try to force the WT to play their game at the SCG.

Yoss, I think the NRL would switch the game days if that was the case.

Anyways lets worry about Souths first. Getting ahead of ourselves.

They'd be mad to, it would kill the atmosphere.

Its gotta be the SFS for me.

Imagine all the Tigers fans there especially if we play an out of Sydney team such as Brisbane, Gold Coast or the Warriors. It'd Brisbane 05 (I hate referencing 05 by the way) all over again and what a great day that was especially with 40 000 Tigers fans.

Also as a kid growing up in the 90s, the SFS epitomises finals footy in my opinion.

And I havn't even started about the Pies/Tigers argument that could arise from this. By the way that doesnt subscribe to me as I grew up in Campbelltown but followed Balmain.

A double header at the SFS would suck.. you'd get more Tigers fans locked out of that fixture than you would at Leichhardt.

Good point. Maybe ANZ Stadium then. Just like 2005.

Firstly, you have no idea what your talking about (Leichhardt would give us a psychological advantage and size is not an issue) and secondly are you that lazy you can't spell the word disgusting

I would not be so presumptious. The ground is really not up to standard and it needs a huge amount of work. In reality, the club is only allowed to play there as it was a concession from the NRL for the two clubs to merge. I don't think Leichhardt is that strong an advantage, we did not seem to need it in 2005 and the team does not plays any better at either Leichhardt or Campbelltown.

Sure, size is not an issue if we were living in the 1970's and 1980's, but afraid to say, it is 2010 and size does matter.

Sounds ok in theory but the game order is pretty well set in stone. Unless you doubled up on Sunday you couldn't do it.

I must say a double header at the SFS is a joke there would be 4 teams not happy with that all fans will miss out .

I think SFS is keen if both games are to be played on the same day to get 2 crowds in and out. They mentioned not having Toyota cup for either game. They would chance the kick off times, eg have the first game at 4pm and the second at 8pm. Get the first crowd out and then get the second crowd in. Don't know if it could work.

ANZ is not an option, the Bloddyslow cup is on that night.

so is oki chokie stadium up to standards with its 18 k capacity?
or townsville . or ericson .or shark park or win .or bluetongue… brookvale ......but i bet they would hammer home their homeground advantage .....ohs and criterior bull crap was the excuse they were using when they wanted to boot out the mighty western suburbs magpies and the mighty balmain tigers yet they still use old under capacity grounds when it suits them ...PLAY IT AT LEICHHARDT because the Players WANT IT PLAYED THERE....

HOW DARE WE NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF our homeground ... IM A WESTS TIGER SUPPORTER FIRST...

WT would never play a Semi at Campbo or Leichhardt. It wont happen.

If Wests Tigers finish in the top 4\. I would hate for us to play a home Semi against easts at the SFS though. If that was the case, I would ask for it to be shifted to Campbo or Leichhardt for sure.
