Tigers Culture.

That is a really unfair thing to say, give the guy a chance before you sink the boot in.

Gibson, Bennett, Gould - they were all rookie coaches at one stage, none of them were great players either.

I cant believe they came out on national TV and said they cried about him having to move away 30km down the road on his $200,000 plus deal

I wasnt happy hearing Matt Parish was favoured, I would like us to get away from our past with personell…...lets get the best people for the jobs....theres a big big world out there other than old Wests & Balmain people...for christs sakes lets GROW

Do we want Woods & Sirro turning into a Ryan and benji???

Pfft. "Came out on national tv". It was a press conference. They're contracted to the show. The show decided to run "Turmoil at the Tigers" for 15 minutes. They whipped them into an emotional frenzy and got emotional responses. Too much blame is being given to Beau and Benji without accounting for the fact that the whole thing was orchestrated for ratings.

I think if things don't change regularly enough the culture can become damaged. Bellamy is an exception, but Bellamy runs a sterile environment built on precision and disciplne. I can imagine training at Melbourne similar to being in the Army Reserve, and it shows in their players lack of emotion.

Everything is pointing to a need for enormous change.

There are no consistencies in Club Management. Sir Alex Fergason hasn't changed much in term of tactics or man managment in the last 25 years. Man Utd do just fine. Last season Chelsea won the Champions League after sacking their coach and replacing him with an assistant mid season.

Newcastle got Wayne Bennett this year and its not like the knights were a lot of fun to watch this season. Souths missed out on Wayne Bennett and got much younger coach and are having there best season in 20 years. Does that mean the same thing will happen to us if we do the same in booting Sheens for a gun rookie coach. Look what happened to Parra when they punted anderson for Kearney. The Bulldogs got hasler this season and are suddenly world beaters… Did that spell doom for Manly cause they were without their supercoach.... No.

What works for every club is different. We are a pretty weird club. A joint venture no less without News Limited to pick up the Tab or a sugar daddy ready to fill the gaps where required.

What i do know is that irrespective of who the Coach is our Players messed up just as badly this season and If we try and copy other clubs it will backfire on us.

Man U are probably the richest club in the world, they don't operate to a salary cap. How you can compare Sir A Ferguson to Sheens is beyond me.

How do we get a Melbourne culture? They had to shed players and even when playing for no points they were competitive look at their records in finals, no problem with the brotherhood culture but the club is a business and players need to know the difference

Would jnr, or blocker have cried if benny left. The game has turned soft in general. Pretty boys and tears. Use to be blood sweat and a very different type of tears.

I think we need to get away from a Wests/Balmain culture before we can even begin to imagine developing our own individual culture.

IMO we are primarily existing to make money

Melbournes and manly primary objective is winning

I agree with snake to a point, Parish I cant see going far here….I dont think hes a good fit for US, somewhere more stable would suit him, we need someone new to the whole joint with no baggage that is strong and has support

You can do much worse trust me ! the appointment of the next coach is probable the most important the club will make in the next 10 yrs. I personaly don,t want a neville nobody that has had no expieriance at a top flight level, if this Matt Parish is given the job it will be back to the Terry Lamb days a disaster, someone that has a proven track record would be the only one I would consider not Ricky Stewarts side kick!.

Your basing your judgement on 6 games in the ESL

At least my judgement is based on 2 very good seasons with CQ Capras

They were everyone's bye before Parish came along and have been ever since

What Parish did with literally no decent playing personnel (Motu Tony was their biggest name  ) was amazing

A few blokes on here who follow the Qld Cup should be able to back me up on this

If given the choice I probably lean to Dymock , but Parish would surprise a lot on here if given the chance

why is a coach's job so glorified? why cant the coach just be given a 25 man squad. pick the best 17 in their positions and make them work as a team.

So who is left in this mates culture group? Farah, Marshall, Fulton and Moltzen maybe Ayshford Lawrence and Galloway.

Does Moltzen have a contract ? He might be next. Also talk of Ayshford looking around.

Very impressed by Parish last night during Manly's semi loss. The guy sat next to lunatic Toovey, who was spraying deluxe all night, fists smashing the console, water bottles fizzing through the box like see through half bricks tossed angrily on the Gaza strip … And yet through it all ... Matty stayed calm with a wisdom filled glint in his eye ... Nice composure under intense pressure.

No idea whether he can coach ... But nice composure.

Yeah, what the hell, if everyone's decided to throw Sheens (and a truck load of cash) off North Head ... Why not, give Matty Parish first crack ...

Give him two years, then clean out the new mess, and bring in ... Ah, eeny meaney miney mo ... Stephen Kearney (exWests), Andrew Webster (exBalmain), Leo Epifania (exWests), Balin Cupples (exBalmain) ... Heaps of proven clipboard clutchers right under our noses ... Most on this forum seem to think Sheens is an idiot who can't coach so any of those blokes would be up to that ... And cheaper ... And maybe not despised by Rothfield ... And maybe might occasionally smile ... And maybe might play more of an up the guts power game ... And maybe might pick inferior lower grade players rather than shuffling the top squad to cover injuries ... And maybe might decide to tone Benji down .... Maybe ???

Welcome to the hirdy girdy people, our era of stability (thanks for the decade Tim) is officially over !

Snoddy…..dont make it up mate.

Most on this forum seem to think Sheens is an idiot who can't coach

More I think most agree his time is up, shelf lifes expired, use by dates past, players have heard it all before etc etc

Interesting about Parish has Alan Jones in one corner and Ricky Stewart in the other again no thanks I want a fresh start .Jones would love nothing better than the Tigers reduced to nothing has a real axe to grind.

Duly noted Ink.
There may have been a smidge of exaggeration in my tripe … Although there are some ( not most) who loiter these confines who have expressed just such a slight on the current Aussie coach.

Anyhow, it looks like he's gone, whether I like it or not ...
Coaching position available at the *Nambucca Roosters Timmy, if you like the beach, quieter lifestyle etc ... They've been runners up in Group 2 for the past two seasons - just need an extra push to get across the line.

I would go even further & have an independent board made up of people with no ties to Wests/Balmain that every decision was made in the best interest of the JV. My opinion has changed on humpty but at times he would be more like a mediator dealing with both boards.

i???

Trodden (Chairman), Humphreys(CEO), Parish (head coach) ???? Farah (capt) …
Apart from paying the bills what exactly is the Wests influence ? Georgallis and Skandallis ...????
Oh yeah, it's a 50/50 split ...

Well, given as I thought a nice joint venture schism might lighten the current mood somewhat.
Let me spurt ...
These Balmain idiots have led us to this point (Humpty, a contract needs a signature mate) ... Time to give the black and white clowns a go ... Couldn't do any worse!

you forgot about warren mcdonnel (wests) recruitment officer, apart from the 1st grade i think the culture of the club is good, we have fantastic juniors coming through both Harold Mathews teams semi finalists, SG Ball premiers,
u/20s top 4 reserve grade in the race for Grand Final honours ,1st grade well we had a few too many injuries but not using as an excuse.so sheens should get some acknowledgement for putting these programes in place. :sign:

Why is it we seem to do well with our juniors but we seem to get the recruitment of our first grade roster so wrong. And the obvious no playing of our youngsters is another obvious problem.

Yeah I think Warren McDonnell (former Easts back rower but we won't hold that against him) is doing a great job. Surely no one is suggesting he be swept away in the clean out.

AND maybe teach them how to actually defend like a top 4 side! Anyone who can do that gets my vote - I will love them forever :stuck_out_tongue:

too much balmain v wests in this place "give us a go" just sounds like sour grapes.

Just trying to recapture those pre club in crisis, good old days when all we had to really bicker about was the ebb and flow of joint venture equilibrium … The good old days, you know, like 9 months ago.
Just a sentimental distraction.

Out of interest mtd ... Who needs to be given a go ?
And, who's oozing the sour grapes ?
