Tigers fall into debt crisis

I am not sure if i should tag this on to here but i think its relevant.
One of my mates not a wt fan…had a chat with a West Ashfield board member who claims that **Balmain can't front up their half of the running cost of WT.**
Wests are considering taking over the franchise and they either started or are about to start talking to the NRL to about moving the franchise to WA.
He also confirmed that Benji has talked to the dragons....

claims that Balmain can't front up their half of the running cost of WT

From what I have seen from the publicly available financials of both JV clubs in 2010/11 this is a real possibility and depending on how the Wests side of the JV approach it we could be in for some very turbulent times off the field as well as on the field.

Geez one clearly fabricated rumour and people are discussing it like it's a real thing…
Don't get sucked into the vortex...

Benny Elias is a consultant for one of the Perth bids but Wests Tigers Franchise isn't going anywhere other than a more Greater Western Sydney focus,i just hope the Tiger doesn't get Black & White wings. There was a contingincy plan from the Balmain side of things to move to the Central Coast either with Norths or standalone but i guess that option is gone now.

There was a vague idea in the 1990s to move Balmain to the Central Coast - it never went anywhere because the CC leagues weren't interest. AFAIK it has NEVER been a plan of the Balmain side of the JV since that time.

As per usual Benny Elias has zero to do with the discussion but gets dragged into things. Nobody is moving anything to Perth and an unsourced, unsubstantiated rumour from a new forum member isn't going to convince me otherwise.

It was presented on Sunday that Wests Ashfield and Western Suburbs Football Club are focused on football in the Macarthur area.

As they should be,like the WestsTigers should be too, before it gets taken away, lets hope this awakens the powers that be as to what a gem they already have.

The jewel in the crown is the "Tigers" name/mascot/logo.
Remove this from the team/club & you lose more than half of the WT supporters.
I will only ever support a "Tigers" club based in Sydney.

Ok,you seem very assured of your "facts",fact is CCLC were not interested,at the time, in being involved with Norths ,Manly,BalmainCronulla or any other NRL club moving to the area, mainly because of financial reasons. Balmain also had talks with other CC clubs including the larger RSL clubs to test support, this option was talked about again,at a social level, when the Northern Eagles JV fell over.
Benny,as you know,is a board member of Perth Glory,i don't know where his Perth connection came from but he is also a advisor/consultant to one of the Perth groups NRL bid. This raised eyebrows from some Balmain Football Club members and has been discussed, socially, for at least 12 Months to my knowledge.

Well you make a lot of claims there. Is there any evidence to support this:
"Balmain also had talks with other CC clubs including the larger RSL clubs to test support, this option was talked about again,at a social level, when the Northern Eagles JV fell over."

My memory of the mid-90s Balmain plan was that CCL's lack of interest was down to them not seeing how they'd make any money from it. Even when the Beagles were up there they showed a lack of interesting in contributing anything.

There is no sourced report of WT moving to Perth. The whole thing is a red herring as you yourself indicated. Hence to involve Elias in a fabricated rumour is unnecessary. I am a Balmain Football club member. No raised eyebrows from me - Benny is no longer on the board and can do what he pleases.

So we should take your word that there is a plan to move the club to Perth? You can post all your like but if you're going to open up with some wild BS claim expect to be called on it. You have no history on this forum, you provide no sources and there is absolutely zero out there about this rumour outside your post. To expect that there would be no scrutiny of something like this is a bit naive…

I don't know what circles you move in at the Balmain Footy Club but i live on the Northern Rivers and only get to Sydney once or twice a year but i heard it mentioned as a possibility for the Tigers if the JV falls over around this time last year, its just talk,no basis of fact other than Benny is involved in one of the consortiums, perhaps 'Licombe Oval' has heard something from the Wests perspective.
On this subject a family friend ,who was a Newtown office bearer in the 1960/70's, recently spent GF week in Sydney and said that they are looking at means to make a submission to the Commission that any new club, such as Perth,be offered incentives to be called the Jets and have a Blue playing strip.
Like the Tigers playing out of Perth it has about a 1% chance of happening but that doesn't mean there are not people out there pushing the barrow,we all have to keep an open mind.

As an old Magpies fan if it is true that the Balmain side of the venture isn't keeping up their end of their payments then this really sickens me. When the merger took place I embraced it straight away but through the years I have noticed Wests have become less and less a part of this. Leichhardt this, Black & Gold that…

Honestly, I could live with WSFC taking this all over and moving to Perth. Id rather see my team every second week then the current situation.

Again, I only feel this way if Balmain are not paying their way.

I'm sure Balmain would pay if they could.

Firstly we are a charity. This is evidenced by offering Tim Moltzen a three year deal to do a job he is clearly incapable of doing.

Secondly I am unsure as to any extra amount this year but the financial reports available show that Balmain have paid their obligation to this point. This year i do not know as we won't see financials until EOFY.
