Parra are at the same stage we are in regards to their development. Penrith were as well a yr or two ago, but they went out and added some marquee players to really cement their roster. Not us though, no, we're never looking for anybody. It becomes a joke after a while. As good as this team might have the potential to be, they are still one or two class players short. And that's where recruitment comes into play. You know what that is Wests Tigers? You should, its that thing that you would do not that long ago.

Yeah agree, its pretty sad that when any marquee players come onto the market they go elsewhere. Not sure whether it is money (maybe due to paying players at other clubs or paying overs for existing players) or whether it is a stigma of playing for our club.
Either way or whatever the situation it is disappointing since we have the backing of one of the richest people in Australia.
Would privatisation solve our problems - dunno.

It will house two full-size training fields, cafe, community facilities, education class rooms, child care and medical facility. It will also be home to the Parramatta football club offices.
**Parramatta will pay for the new precinct**, while the Government will be asked to assist with the training facility cost.
Eels officials have asked that a light rail line to run from Parramatta Station has a stop outside the stadium.
“It’s massive,” said Seward. “This brings us back into the game.”
This isn’t a proposal — it will happen.
It is hoped the new complex will deliver a $1m operating profit and have 50,000 members, with a new hotel and a six-level car park.
The team start training at their new facility this weekend.
Over the next three years, the high performance centre will be built and completed.
Parramatta hope the entire precinct project will be completed in six years.
“It will secure our financial position as a club and as a powerhouse,” Seward said.
“We have to be brave and have a red-hot crack at it. Parramatta is the capital of western Sydney so let’s give it the stadium it deserves.”
The new development will create more than 300 new jobs.
“This $100 million development will be one of the most exciting ventures in our club’s proud history that will see us provide members with services and entertainment to rival any other club in Australia.
It will ensure our ongoing financial security for decades to come,” said Eels chairman Steve Sharp.
“On Parramatta Stadium I share the same vision as the members that this should be a complete sports precinct that the City of Parramatta and the people of the greater western Sydney can be proud of. My commitment to this cause will be unwavering and the club will be at the forefront of lobbying Government and stakeholders into matching our investment.”
Parramatta Leagues Club CEO Bevan Paul added: “This investment will transform Parramatta Stadium and the Leagues Club into a world class sports and entertainment precinct — an unrivalled destination for western Sydney.”

As mentioned in another thread Milky, how can you reject Origin players, then encourage the club to re-sign a player for who hasn't played for 2 yrs, on 200K a season no less, who was mediocre even before his injuries?

The deal has reportedly been sealed, with Fairfax today saying that the 24-year-old New Zealand international will put pen to paper on a massive four-year contract by the end of the week. Should he complete a move to Parramatta, he will be one of the most significant signings in the club’s history and join former Sea Eagles teammate Anthony Watmough in blue and gold.
Apart from the pursuit of Foran, the Daily Telegraph has now obtained a full copy of the Eels new strategic plan - titled the ‘2020 Vision’.
The paper was presented to 250 club members on Wednesday night. By the year 2020, Parramatta has boldly predicted they can:
* Win two NRL premierships;
* Play in the final series for six successive years, including a minimum of two grand finals;
* Deliver a $1 million operating profit;
* Have 50,000 members;
* Have an average home crowd of 26,000;
* Train at $25 million new high performance centre in Parramatta.

A clearly frustrated Seward said: “We haven’t played in the finals since 2009 and that’s just an absolute failure. This club has to play in the finals every year - that should just be an expectation. It is totally unacceptable (the club hasn’t won a premiership since 1986). Clubs like Parramatta shouldn’t ever win a wooden spoon.”
The strategic plan covered every possible issue — with answers and resolutions. Some may be unattainable, others are realistic, if not cheeky.
The paper asks Parramatta to be “united, honest, progressive and ruthless.”
It reads: “Rest assured we will be ruthless in our pursuit of success and delivering all elements of the Eels 2020 Vision.
“We want to known as the most professional sporting brand in Australia.”
Under another headline of ‘The Parramatta Way’, the club vows to “be brave and ask the hard questions - put the issue on the table. If you say it, do it.
“No shortcuts - take the time to get things right.”
And in another category, the club vows it will not tolerate:
* Passing the buck - offloading responsibility onto others.
* Throwing others under the bus - blaming someone else to cover for your mistake.
* Reverting back to the safety of ‘That’s what we have always done’.
* Being quick to say no.
“At the end of the day, we are here to win a comp - it’s as simple as that,” Seward said.
Seward stressed his club had to change its mentality.
“We have to ask the hard questions - even if it something we don’t want to do. We have to confront and challenge each other,” he said.
“We don’t want to take short cuts - we have to do things the right way and we have to give every idea a chance to succeed. There will be failures but we prefer to try ten things and get one thing right so we can change the way the business is going to be run.
“It is a change in mindset. We’re not just going to do it the same way it has always been done. We have to try something different. You have to move forward and change with the times. When I started here, there were a lot of people saying ‘that’s the way we have always done it’. The results would show me that’s not good.”

“We were last on and off the field - and it was a fair gap,” he said.
“Do you strive to get to eighth or say ‘stuff it, we’ll go around you and be the best’. That’s the mentality we want. We think if you are built to win one title, you are built to win multiple. You have to change, you have to adapt, you have to try something new. We weren’t doing that. We are trying to aspire to be better than we’ve ever been.”

Never seen so many motherhood statements in one document….wo't mean a thing unless they have got all the spiv's off the board.
Good luck with Beau Scott....hasn't worked for us recruiting guys on big money, plus his career must be on the downswing.
I am happy if we stick to the plan to build from within and not pay overs for journeymen.
