Tigers Miller on Gold Coasts Radar

I have set extremely high standards for moses and brooks based on everyone talking them up massively. They sound like the next wally and johns the way people are carrying on.

From what I've heard, it's the combination with Moses that makes Brooks lethal. If this is true, I'd look to bring both into first grade together for the post-Benji era. That's just me though

If they keep developing, that should be the plan but they may need to juggle all 3 for a while… Moses could be an even better player than Marshall. I hate overhyping players at his age but gee he's an impressive player. With Brooks they could be absolutely lethal.

Sounds like Luke Brooks is to become the first twelve year old to push for a State of Origin berth.

Exciting times watching footy from the cloud cuckoo stand …

Seriously, just let the kid run around in the 20s for five minutes before throwing him to the Wolves (no, not Windsor).

Totally agree mate, it's little wonder why so many young halves coming into First Grade have bad defense. They are rushed into grade without having ever consistently played against grown men and have some seriously skillful and tough men running at them constantly throughout a game. Then on top of that they are still expected to lead the team around the park and talk non stop to the boys all game. Give these kids a break, especially the boys in the halves, and let them go through the natural development phase. Is it any coincidence that if you compare today's halves to the halves of the earlier decades and bring it forward to 2010+ the NRL is struggling to find consistent genuine performers? Hell NSW can't even find a halves combo. It all comes back to rushing them into grade for a quick fix but long term it is doing the game huge damage as confidence gets shot for many and they just can't handle the physical side of it anymore.

2 very sensible posts let them develop at their own pace if they are rushed it could cause untold damage to their potential careers

They are (I assume) just going on what they've seen. I admit that I also dislike how players in lower grades are overhyped but Moses is the best player I've seen for his age and Brooks wasn't too far behind. Of course SG Ball is a totally different game to NRL or even NYC but the potential is just massive.

The main problem we have, their is no comp below nrl that gives the kids the right grounding. In years gone by the kids would come up through the grades and be surrounded by harden pros, now we have the u20s,that although good to watch is really a hybrid game of touch and the nsw cup just is not at the same level as the old reserve grade. So if a young kid is good he can only really learn his trade in the top grade and that can be very dangerous for both the club and the player.

JUst on a side note considering this topic is about Miller - i went to the Aust Schoolboy championships this year solely to see Moses play because of all the hype - he was good, very good but i came away far more impressed with Brooks - both have huge potential but give them at least one full year in NYC.
On Miller - i would be extremely angry if WT released him from his final year.

Where was the championships held, and where did you travel from?

The reason NSW cannot manufacture halfbacks is because of our junior system .in queensland a halfback plays halfback, not first reciever where he has to pass the ball or its a turnover if caught .
Miller is contracted to Wests , so whats the big deal ? if he performs this season then we upgrade him , if he dosent we lose absolutely nothing .

Honestly ignoring the hype is there anyway these guys are big enough for first grade this year?

I don't think Mitch or Luke will be big enough for at least 2 years. Of course they're talented or they wouldn't be the Aussie school boy Halves but they're just too young

I think thats garbage…though unsure on Jnr QRL rules.
8 yo's having to pass and not play is not a reason for a lack of halfbacks
Theyre still learning basics....international rules begin at 13s.
10m rules killed halves

oh sorry ink, it is 13 i mean the field goals and 2 points from penalty…

Lol we'll see. I'd like to throw a lazy tenner on Brooks playing first grade in 2013 tbh. Anyone want to offer some odds?

He's got talent, but I'll call it right now and say he's no chance of playing FG in 2013.

They were held in Port Macquarie - i live at Lake Cathie only 20 mins down the road - i had read on the forum how good Moses was so went along each day to see the matches - NSW catholics were way too classy for most other outfits due mainly to Brooks and Moses.

there's plenty of reasons Miller would want to go there, and I'm sure they'll have plenty of cash to offer him.

Here's hoping he has a great year with us and wants to stay, or that Luke Brooks is ready to go for 2014

bwaaaahahahahah! :roll

I don't think you will see, Moses or Mulcahy play NRL this year or posssibly even next year. I think Brooks may get a run towards the back end of the year depending on if he can get through the season uninjured, the other 2 guys will need 2 years of developing their bodies to be ready for the NRL IMO.
Not sure on Mulcahy but the other 2 boys have had broken legs Moses at the back end of last season and Brooks the season before that, how they handle NRL given all of the Hype surrounding the 2 of them will be interesting with opposition coaches really testing the boys out.
