If they actually do this it will confirm my suspicion that the NRL's idea of advertising the code includes actually trying to make sure there are plenty of empty seats on show. We got a shade over 70,000 in at Homebush for the preliminary final against the Dragons last year - ie more than 10,000 empty seats - and there's no way there would be that much demand for a qualifying final. The last qualifying final played at Homebush had a crowd of less than 25,000 (TBF it was Bulldogs v Newcastle).

Given the SFS holds 45,000 surely it would be a better decision for the NRL to play what would be a showpiece game there? They could more or less guarantee it would be absolutely packed to the rafters, whereas wretched Homebush could be barely half full.

No way. Some people would miss out on tickets if it was played at the SFS. We would get atlest 50,000 if we play Illawarra in Week 1 of the finals.
