Tigers not guaranteed home final

Just read this in the SMH, that even if the Tigers finish 4th they are not guaranteed a home semi final in week one.
The NRL will choose the venues for any Sydney teams in the finals and if we finish 4th and say, the Dragons 5th, the NRL is likely to make ANZ the venue in week 1\. that sucks!

Oh well everyone lets start cheering for the Cowboys to sneak home against the Warriors( less than six) and us to have 2 comfortable wins over Titans and Sharks

It's irrelevant. SFS on paper may be a home ground, but our real homes are Leichhardt and Campbo. Playing SFS or ANZ is neither here nor there…..and certainly going to be a lot easier than playing in New Zealand or North Qld

Let's face it, playing away from Leichhardt or Campbelltown will be an away game even if we take the game to the SFS. Where we play really isn't a concern for me, I want us to make the top 4 to get that 2nd bit if we lose in the first week.

I'd prefer the SFS over ANZ any day. I do consider the SFS a home game, not ANZ.
But, on the other hand, it is finals and you gotta win no matter who and where you play. Bring 'em on.

I'm not so fussed.

We ay out of 3 grouinds and train at Concord. I think this would be great for us as we are not attached to only one ground.

Any game is played on its merrit and regardless of venue.

I'm interested to see if there are any stats on how we play as the away side…

If they actually do this it will confirm my suspicion that the NRL's idea of advertising the code includes actually trying to make sure there are plenty of empty seats on show. We got a shade over 70,000 in at Homebush for the preliminary final against the Dragons last year - ie more than 10,000 empty seats - and there's no way there would be that much demand for a qualifying final. The last qualifying final played at Homebush had a crowd of less than 25,000 (TBF it was Bulldogs v Newcastle).

Given the SFS holds 45,000 surely it would be a better decision for the NRL to play what would be a showpiece game there? They could more or less guarantee it would be absolutely packed to the rafters, whereas wretched Homebush could be barely half full.

I was at that Bulldogs v Knights Final and the atmosphere was terrible… I remember leaving the ground thinking 'is that the best Sydney can do?', considering the earlier game on that night was played at Suncorp...

Surely if you have a suitable Home Ground, the NRL should provide some reward?!

Any advantage no matter how minute could be the difference
Even playing out of the dressing room you know
I understand Spartan eventually we have to win a game from a ground we usually don't play at but lets leave it until later in our challenge
Why can't the NRL make a decision thats money is not the first agenda thats important to them

To be honest, I don't think the SFS is up to a NRL finals level. My experience there are terrible queues for beers and a terrible PA system.

Saying that, I dislike games at Homebush, been to a few and the atmosphere is average ( except for SOO games )

Much prefer a true home game at the suburban grounds, but the dolloar talks.

I couldn't care either way. ANZ WAS one of our home grounds until a couple of years ago and, to be truthful, I'd rather travel to ANZ on a Friday night than the SFS. Besides, it'll be good practice for the GF!!!

is there realy a difference between playing at Homebush caompared to the SFS? i realy don't think playing at Homebush is a disadvantage. Anyone who would worry about this needs to take a breath and realize its a non-issue

The way I see it is we will play cowboys or dragons in rnd 1 of the finals but we will finish 4th I have no doubts on that. We will put 50 on the titAns tonight weather permitting

I have stated before the SFS needs a major upgrade.

I hope it is at ANZ Stadium if we play against Illawarra. We will get a bigger crowd! :sunglasses:
