Tigers plan an exciting future with young talent

Knuckles, time to stop crapping on everything the club or its staff does. Seriously.

We get it, they turn left and you reckon they should have turned right. Everything is wrong etc.

"One is our playing roster and the other is our training base. Where we are at the moment (Concord), that's tired.

"In fact, we have one of the worst training facilities in the game. We have to focus on getting that right in 2014."

This to me is the key thing we need to fix , especially given our injury issues this year. The clubs with the most money spent on facilities, rehab, etc and sports science like Melbourne, manly, souths, Brisbane are the clubs more likely to be successful

If we win the 9's comp we'll be able to upgrade a lot.

You can make me up a "Mayer Magic" banner if you like and I will take it to each game and hold it up if you can prove me wrong !

Mate he can say what he likes to whoever he likes ….. But the reality is eight teams will make the top eight next year and eight teams will miss out .... All sixteen CEO's will talk up their clubs for obvious reasons ..... I personally don't like the idea of getting everyone's hopes up just in case something goes wrong ..... As it did in 2013\. It would be more prudent to suggest there is a quiet confidence in the club that the upcoming season may be full of cautious optimism based on the crop of promising youngsters coming through the grades suggesting the worst may be behind us. That to me would hold more credibility and is more **believable**.

Believable??

He is talking about goals.

"Our aim is to be in the top eight next year, the top four the following year and in 2016 we want to be in the grand final," he said.

If you dont take everything he says so literally, and look at it for what it is…then maybe you might see his statement for what it is - goals, desires - 'aims'.
This is sport, no guarantees. :unamused:

But when youre looking for anything at all to crucify the bloke, well, NOTHING he says will be good enough

Are you going to carry on this agenda forever because youre still cut he didnt re-sign your poster boy

I can't find the audio so have to declare it a draw. I know it was 8.45am because I was sitting in Woolies car park waiting for Big W to open when the interview was on the radio.

I'm not going to get my hopes up about next year ….. If you blokes want to .... well great ... but for me I've learnt from too many years experience to take much notice of Mayers hype.

You are wrong, everything you have ever posted is incorrect.

But I can't find the evidence, so lets just call it a draw.

Skeet skeet skeet!

Seriously, did Mayer run over your cat or something?

One of the things I love about our club is the amount of local juniors we keep and bring through the grades. It's really humbling to see guys like Farah who started playing with the Leichhardt Wanderers all those years ago now captain the club and NSW. Can't say the same for the $harks or the Roo$ters…

Just to name a few of the locals...

James Tedesco - Camden Rams
David Nofoaluma - Campbelltown Collegians
Chris Lawrence - Eaglevale St Andrews
Benji Marshall - Don't know if Keebra counts...?!
Aaron Woods - Leichhardt Juniors
Robbie Farah - Leichhardt Wanderers/Enfield Federals
Liam Fulton - Westfield Sports/Greystanes (Parramatta?) but captained Wests SG Ball
Curtis Sironen - Dundas Shamrocks
BMM - Keebra again
Jesse Sue - Macquarie Fields Hawks

And now the next generation with Brooks and Moses both attending Holy Cross, although I believe Moses was a Parra junior at club level?

Pretty good strike rate and speaks volumes of our junior development pathways

I couldn't agree with you more Alex ….. Although the previous administration have been much maligned on this forum, they can take a large share of the credit for the juniors now coming through the ranks.

Sorry … WT and West Magpies ... 1973 was when I started.

So, youre happy to give credit to previous admin in bringing these
young players through (as I am ) the same players that dont give you
any hope or confidence for next year??

That'll do me.

All I said was that I'm not letting Mayers hype (re his top 8 prediction) get my hopes up for next season. I made no reference to the players.

Are you working for News Limited at the moment ? They deal in this sort of stuff.

wellllllllllll history is history.. you gotta take good (all the heritage rounds etc) with the bad i guess.

up to you whether you believe all the hype or not- but doesnt mean you should be having a go at the CEO for setting goals IMO.

Its not hype, and its not a "prediction", he said its an aim.

Don't act like everyone is claiming Mayer is some sort of demi-god, because we are not.

Yeah … Should be an expert at taking the good with the bad by now !
I don't mind what Mayer says .... He can say what he likes. Doesn't mean everyone has to go along with it. I would have thought it is every clubs goal to make the eight at the start of a season so sort of stating the obvious isn't it ?

So your issue isn't that Mayer is wrong, its that he is stating the obvious?

Mate, let it go.

You said more than that.
You basically doubted his credibility, you suggested his viewpoint was inconsistent depending on which media outlet he was talking to….youve basically been talking as if what he said was going to be fact, which the article clearly quoted him as saying it was the clubs 'aim'

Im sure you know the difference

Are you trolling?
