boof laffranchi would be up there going on to represent country and state after leaving us

We didnt Let him go ie Services no longer required, No room in the Salary cap. He like Princey made his choice to move on for more $$$$ and the QLD sunshine.

Exactly. He is from Murwillumbah and wanted to go home.

The question I always ask is would I want any of them back to replace a current player. Answer - NO (I exclude Prince and Laffranchi from that, as we tried to keep them)

Cainey was a good player and good bloke fainty!

Getting in cahoots with Hadley & co. has to be considered a down-hill move for the little bloke!

Luke O'Donnell left before the Sheens era if I recall correctly (this club was joke then).

Sheens took over in 03 if i recall correctly and he wasnt a big o'donnell fan.
He broke Michael Monaghans jaw with is forearm against Canberra and i think it was then that Sheens decided he wasnt a part of his plans.
I always remember my old man raving about him.
"gees that O'donnells a good footballer, he'll play for Australia one day"
He was right too

We also tried to keep T'eo and Tagive - but were either legally or illegally out-bid by rivals!

In both cases I don't want them back because of character flaws! Ben reneged on a handshake after he went public as managing himself (note he has since taken on Isaac Moses as manager for his recent contract extension - who is the bloke who took Israel & Hunt to AFL)!

What I find wryly amusing is how both T'eo and Princey got third-party deals with Ch. 9 upon their moves to the the sunshine & brimstone state. I'm sure that 18th man for Qld money does not hurt the Broncos in retaining the likes of T'eo & Yow-Yeh either.

Tagive managed about 8 games of any level in 2 years - he was well looked after by the Tigers - and decided to chase the money to Wollongong (their offer was totally off our scale given his injury status)!

Karma bit his arse this year - and you have to wonder how Saints will be able to honour his exorbitant contract for the next two years given the heavily back-loaded Gasnier deal and their all international backline!?!

I may find some forgiveness for him if he were to return - but I'd still prefer Blake to be our starting right centre! Blake has a better-rounded game and is also a top young bloke who loves being at the club!

Anyone of an appropriate age and knowledge knew that O'Donnell would play for Australia from his form as a kid in 2000!

His problem is that his brain does not work right!

Sheensy had big plans for Luke in 2003 - but losing him for 12 weeks for that forearm on Michael Monaghan that caused a terrible broken jaw was the last straw for Tim who then realised the likes of Galea, O'Neill and even Heighno, Bronson & Liam (who all debuted that year) were far better long term options!

The club and Luke came to an agreement that he was better re-starting his career elsewhere - knowing that it would bite us - but our money was better spent elsewhere! (This notion also came about as Sheensy was mortified when Melbourne paid huge money to steal a 19 year-old Hoffman - and he did not want to see our other promising youngsters poached!)

Luke did what everyone knew he was capable of in representing Australia & NSW (ironically making his Test debut on the back of playing for a losing team in the 2005 GF v the Tigers)! Since then - his brain has let him down even more - and to our advantage it occurs especially when he plays the Tigers!

Good luck to him in England - given the niggling stuff that is so prevalent there!

I recon the tigers have probably been the club responsible for supplying more tallent to the nrl than any other. When we think superstar there's non bigger than Scott Prince allong with Anthony Lafrenchy well GC would be nowere. This is a tradishion that goes a long way back. Those who followed the mighty Magies would know of the loss of such greats as Terry Lamb ( probably the biggest loss of our clubs history ) Bob Cooper John Ribot and Tommy Rednickers to the Jets. And by the way wasn't Felou a Campbelltown kiddie.

I have attended many events where Scott Prince has been present, but at no time have I approached him for a discussion because I'm still gutted he left us. I dont think we would have such a lean streak between 05 and 10 if Scott had played 1-2 more years at the Tigers. At one event, Scott walked towards me to say hi and I turned my back and moved to a new discussion point to ensure I didnt say something which might of offended him. I dont think that wound will ever heal while he is wearing a different jumper…

At the end of the day, at some stage all clubs will need to let players go which dont sit well with supporters. Its not always Salary Cap either. In every industry, competitors will offer more money to gain a skilled employee from the opposition, whereas the current employer might feel the employee is being paid what they are worth to them. The current employer needs to make business decisions which effect the whole workplace, rather than the needs or wants of any individual.

Did Scott leave us in the lurch, or did the Club decide too not compete with the offer???

Prince had already played NRL for 2 clubs before us. Folau moved to Qld in his early teens - he played u/15 for Queensland.

Oh mate- We tried very very hard to keep him.

It's a bit hard to compete with a club who have massive salary cap concessions in place to secure good talent in order to be competitive from the get-go.

It was no secret Prince wanted to go back to QLD either, no amount of money would have kept him here. I still hope the schoolies don't win a premiership as long as he is at that club for that pathetic effort he made in 2006 knowing well that his future was secured.

He played like a total busted in 2006 - and then had a blinder for the Titans in 20077!!

That is also what I cannot forgive him for - it was as if he decided we were no chance without Benji and decided to play in a dinner suit to keep himself fresh for his Titans debut! It was the height of selfishness and unprofessionalism!

As Terry Lamb said when Tyran Smith signed with the Raiders - that he would keep picking him in first grade as Tyran was professional enough to keep up his performance & commitment! Tyran did exactly what was expected of him in a struggling side - while Prince dogged it and played like he was already being paid by his new masters!

The Titans officially signed him for less than our offer - but this was topped up with numerous third-party deals and the club arranging a nursing job for his wife who was not qualified to practise in the 1st world (i.e. NSW)!

The fact that the Coast then tried to poach Payten mid-contract (falsely telling him that the Tigers were shopping him around) - and crapped on their own bloke Friend to try to lure Farah means that they have quickly become our arch-rivals and I wish them the depths of failure every seaason!

Prince was such a cat his last year with us….when he bothered to turn up to club pressos, he'd always have two burly meatheads either side of him - big wuss

Fair dinkum… To cat it during the games was bad enough, but to not even have the testicular fortitude to face your own fans and be on the level with them is even worse...

I am still adamant that if we didn't snare the 2005 premiership he would be on the NRL scrapheap... or playing for Cronulla. He was nothing before us.
