Best game from moltz I can remember. Could not fault him. He knows who is behind him clearly. Good signs

Same here. Moltzen had a faultless game which will do his confidence the world of good.

Yes, Moltzen cops a hell of a lot of this forum, but did play well. As pointed out however, the full back is a potent attacking weapon, not just defense. Maybe is Lawrence is out next week, Moltzen to centre and Tedesco to fullback?????

Thats not too bad an idea.

I've always said hed be great as a Craig Wing styled utility, but only if he'd take the line on.

Gets Tedesco in the team as well that way.

Moltzen needs to show more ticker… then maybe he can justify his place in the side. Sure he played ok today but let's see how ge backs it up next week.

Surprised no one has mentioned Pettybourne. Thought he added some great impact when he came on. Not sure why Potter left him on the bench for so long but I am sure he had his reasons.

Farahs intercept pass on the first or second tackle makes me think that there is no cultural shift just yet but I saw some exciting signs today….in amongst all the usual crap.

Yes TM I also thought Pettybourne was one of our best forwards, had good go forward, also B M-M and Buchanan was good too. I hope they can capatalize on todays win, and improve each week, as they will need to when they come up against some of the better sides. Good effort though

Pettybourne looked good but he lacks fitness.

Looks like that will be rectified over the next couple of months though with Gall likely to be out.

Moltzen was pretty good in the 61 minutes I got to see

Hopefully Teddy can keep ramping up the pressure on Moltzen and he will continue to perform at a reasonable level

Shame Reddy doesn't have more speed , he went OK and Ayshford stepped up as well

Forwards went well , but want to see this side step it up another notch when we play Manly and Melbourne If we lose ,can deal with it as long as we show 100% commitment for 80 minutes

Moltzen was good, in fact, he was as good as he'll ever be at fullback. Put simply though, it's not good enough. He has the leaping ability under the high ball of Utai. If he won't get airborne to take a bomb, then he is essentially letting everyone else have first dibs on the ball. That's not good enough.

Miller was very good and a marked improvement on Round 1, although he had little chance to do anything in that game. He looked more comfortable yesterday too which is only a good thing. The more confident he gets the better Benji will look

Ayshford has learnt how to get outside his man again which is great to see. He still needs to remember how to tackle like he was in 2011.

Lawrence is looking lost. Koroibete ran up out of the line a few times to shut down the centre mostly because Lawrence was too deep in defence and not moving very much. Not sure what's going on there. We need Lawry in better form for his sake and to provide opportunities for Koroibete.

Marshall is starting to take on the line again, needs to do it more.

Farah appears to be hogging the ball, but he's really just helping Miller out. He did the same thing when Lui started at halfback.

Fulton has me baffled. The bloke is a workhorse defensively, always has been, but for some reason this year, he is not sticking that initial contact in defence and is having to work twice as hard to make a tackle. I put it down to him appearing to wrap up the ball in defence, instead of tackling around the waist or legs which is his strong point as a defender.

Anasta is a good back rower when he has strong back rowers either side of him. Sadly for him and the Tigers he has the light Fulton and the lazy Blair either side of him, which just makes Anasta look very bad and in defence isolates him.

Blair has had a better start to the year than last year, but boy he needs to lift big time. He's just not getting involved in the dirty work enough.

Buchanan has been a great get. The kid is going to have to almost replicate Woods 2012 season though, especially if Galloway is out for a long time, which I think he's capable of doing.

Utai too slow, poor hands, can't jump and horrible tackling technique. Shouldn't be in the backline again.

Woods is starting to improve his agility even more which is just remarkable to see in a young prop. He stands a chance of becoming the best prop for Balmain, Magpies and WT since Blocker I reckon.

Agreed. He was good yesterday. I thought Buchanan was very strong in his first stint, but less effective when he came back on. I'm sure he'll get stronger as the season progresses. Pettybourne was good against a tiring opposition. Can't see him being as effective if he has to start - he runs hard but just lacks that extra bit of size. Ayshford was much better against the Panthers as well. Made some decent metres and except for one stupid pass seemed to be error free. Miller was far more effective with a forward pack that was at least on level terms with the opposition in the ruck. So for me it was a pass mark against fairly average opposition which to be honest is about all I'm expecting this year. I hope I'm underestimating the team and they perform much better than I expect.
