Tigers sign Knights discard

The Wests Tigers have picked up a handy front-rower from Newcastle who could push for a top grade spot next season.

Christian Ma'anaima was in the Knights' NRL squad this year but had no chance to show his wares behind the likes of the Saifiti brothers and David Klemmer.

The big middle forward turns 21 next year and will start the season in NSW Cup and wait for an opportunity.

A strong player with a good motor, he could prove another astute buy for the Tigers.

Presume replacing Amone. I'd love it to be replacing Tamou but not yet by the look of things.

Is Amone no longer with us?

TBH, I am hoping Tamou fires up next season to lead the team, agree, he didn’t do it last season.

Was only on a one-year deal and didn’t get re-signed for 2022.

Never gonna happen. His head would already be in retirement. Just another easy $300k to make before he has to get a real job.

I’m expecting much of the same as this year. Starts off ok , then deteriorates

It excites me that recruitment are targeting these young, energetic juniors for the future. He's a prop, build him up. Well done guys

Just a snapshot from this season. Assuming he hasn't played that many FG games as only 4 appearances. Hope he gets a try in Wests Tigers colours.

Watching Tamou sitting there like a tree stump in the changerooms in the doco was pretty disgusting IMO. He seemed to offer absolutely nothing in terms of inspiring his team or even firing them up.
Not sure how heavily edited the doco was but it showed Tamou to be a complete waste of space and a totally uninspiring choice as captain IMO.

He hasn’t played First Grade yet, those 4 games are in Reserve Grade.

Hopefully with a bit of time he makes his debut for us :+1:

Just look at the Storm game when Madge left. He didn’t say a word. Mbye was the leader at that time.

Big, Strong, Young and can Tackle.

That's a good start.

Welcome Christian Ma’anaima.

It’s great having all these highly promising young forwards but we need a few experienced old heads to help the develop.

better than having no promising young forwards.

Cayless should help here

Cayless could well be the signing we needed most,to get our forwards working as a cohesive unit.If he can do that when everyone else has failed it will have been money well spent. It is however a massive if but a wish him well

Never seen a bloke on a Cup contract get a dedicated thread..since Rhyce Pritchard..

Go good young fella
