1,6 and 9 definitely still have a lot of work to do but keeping them together is going to be key now. There is "potential"..

Douehi is the big fish. He seems desperate to impress.

Good point. Ideally the club will build around these 3 for the next 5-7 years.

Hopefully we learnt our lesson from last time around and don’t have all 3 coming off contract at the same time. I would even use the cash we have for next year to top these guys up and extend them before they have a chance to look around.

Laurie and AD are off contract at the same time. Who knows, by then you could offer one 3 years, and the other 4. Long way from that though

Laurie is on a modest contractor at the moment and his stocks will continue to rise. It puts us in a good situation as we can up his contract in the next couple of seasons if his forms continued and extend it in the process before other clubs circle.

Brooks played well. Had Doueihi done his defensive homework we would have won.

That’s a pretty unfair call to make Paws. AD was one of our best last night, even taking into account some defensive issues.

If we want to improve and become a force, each player needs to look at their respective games. We know opposition coaches are aware of it and target him.

Absolutely, but you’re underestimating AD’s value last night. Without him there we would have never been in the game. I know you’re a fan of Brooks and you’re entitled to that opinion, but Brooks creates little in attack anymore.

AD is already the dominant half. He is the guy who is most likely to create something for us.

Laurie has been great, but he needs to improve his defence.

In each Souths break he barely laid a hand on the attacker. Don’t expect him to stop some of these guys one on one but he should at least slow them down.

He is a small guy and he doesn't make those try saving tackles. Maybe in time he will make some of them.

I agree. We need to retain those 3 in those positions and build around them unless they suddenly lose form.

The Tigers have to stick with the 1. Laurie 6. Douihei 7. Brooks 9. Simpkin for the year regardless of what happens. They need to build combinations for this season and yers ahead.

Brooks is the weak link. Think I’d prefer Mbye there or give the young bloke in reggies a shot.

Mbye .....defence is Brooks equal ....he has to get a shot ...we looked a completely different side with him in the middle being creative

Mbye isn't logical as he will be gone EOY.

He doesn't have to be if we improve greatly with Mbye at 7 and happy and playing well

After 1 good game.
Mbye was a Trainwreck at 7 for the Dogs.

It’s not a tackling issue it’s. Defensive alignment issue . The try where Hampton chipped over near our line was a good example , he’s still learning where to put everyone as well as himself . He was jogging across slowly , which is fine , but he was 20m west of where the ball was , where he should have been north / south in line with Hampton , give or take . It’s a lot of running , but that’s the job.
A lot of the 1 on 1 stuff wouldn’t happen , with better organisation. But he’s a talented dude with a loud voice , and seems to be picking up our game plan pretty quickly , so I have faith .

Yeah I agree Laurie is inconsistent with his positional play. Sometimes he's in the perfect spot to defuse a kick, sometimes he's no where to be seen. Thankfully that's something that is easily fixed with experience

The spine has a problem while Brooks is in it as he is not a thinking half which every half needs to be. Douehi is still learning to play 5/8 and has not set up one of his centres with a pass all season. Laurie needs to learn how to tackle a foot and not let go of it.

Isn't easily fixed ..takes years to learn positional play and organizing your defence ...trying to visualize what the attack is actually aiming at ....maybe 2-3 plays ahead

Doueihi has thrown a couple of gems to put Garner over the try line the past couple of weeks. Also some nice cutouts to put his wingers into space. Brooksy’s issues are more about game management I reckon

Yep, but both these blokes are brand new in their positions in the NRL, give em time, they are certainly showing they are heading in the right direction.

Did you not just describe "experience" when you said "takes years to learn positional play"?
