Tigers still troubled by injuries

Many injuries can be kept at a minimum, if you are simply proactive in dealing with and preventing them. That's where our new SC staff come in. Here's hopping our boys stay injury free in 2015.

It still beggars belief that we have not signed a couple more players. We now have it from the horse's mouth that many of this injury prone bunch are , in fact, still injured

They are in recovery razor

Hopefully the new S & C will have them stronger , fitter and better prepared than in the past

That's all we can ask

But we still need players big time

What makes this news even better is that Bodene Thomspon, Blake Austin, Adam Blair & James Gavet are all injury free at present.
The recruitment this year is the poorest I have ever seen and unless JT knows something we don't, we are going to struggle.

The only plus I'm finding is the bleaker the outlook the more I'm settling in to blind faith that the team will pull off some miracles.
A contented form of dissociative resignation.
Those of a religious persuasion may well be on to something.

I think come the end ofJanuary or middle of February there will be a different more exciting vibe around the forum…..

JT and co aren't going to give to much away yet...

JT doesn't want to give us a false sense of security this early....

He's already two months into the new job, but new Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor still hasn't been able to get his hands on most of his starting line-up.

As many as eight first-graders remain on ice heading into the Christmas break, having spent the majority of the off-season thus far recovering from various ailments.

And the list is all too familiar: David Nofoaluma (knee), Curtis Sironen (groin), Dene Halatau (ankle), James Tedesco (knee), Keith Lulia (neck) and Tim Moltzen (knee).

First choice halves Luke Brooks (hamstring) and Mitchell Moses (groin) have yet to advance to full contact training.

In addition to that, Four Nations participants Robbie Farah, Aaron Woods, Tim Simona, Jesse Sue and Martin Taupau have yet to return from holidays and aren't expected back until after the Christmas break.

"The guys have trained really well. I'm really happy with how training is going and that we're developing," Taylor told NRL.com on Monday.

"However, the one thing that's still there as an issue is the fact that our Four Nations guys haven't trained with us and there's still a number of our high-profile players that are recovering from operations they had at the end of the season."

Taylor has already stated a number of times since taking over the clipboard in October that overcoming the club's injury curse will be a top priority.

"Yeah, that's an issue for us," Taylor said just last month. "I don't want to make too much of it because it can be something that's hard to control. But we will be focusing hard on trying to improve the results in that area."

However the former Rabbitohs and Eels mentor, who arrives at a club forced into playing a total 32 players last season (second only to Cronulla) has been forced to remain patient.

"There's still a good chunk of our team that would be in our best starting team who aren't on the training paddock doing everything day-to-day at the moment. Things have gone really well, but that's an issue for us and I'm looking forward to us getting on the other side of that, particularly those top-line guys on the training paddock," he said.

While Taylor wouldn't divulge the full extent of his players' injuries, he did suggest that some may not recover in time for their season kick-off against the Titans on the Gold Coast.

"There's some that are [in doubt], but they're a bit touch and go. They'd like to think they'll be there, but I don't want to be mention that sort of stuff," he said.

Taylor was also excited about the release of the NRL draw for next season, which includes 11 games on free-to-air television. Only the Broncos and Bulldogs have been given more exposure.

"I saw that – it's really great. It's really good for the club that we're going to get that much exposure. But from my perspective as the coach, we just need to be ready to perform in those games," he said.

I hope we also perform when we are not on free to air games as well !!

That's a little more bleak than I expected.

I have been trying to remain positive about our prospects but I have to agree.

Quote guyofthetiger "A contented form of dissociative resignation." Excellent!

Anyone overly upset by this needs to get their heads checked. As a number of others have said these were pre existing injuries, and players that had surgery in the closing weeks of the season. They were always going to miss the start of pre-season. That was the reason why they had the surgery as early as possible.

Our new S+C team will work on preventing injuries. They can't magically cure the ill.

I just get a little worried when we get press releases like this one, call me cynical, but its like the excuses are being developed before a ball has been kicked or a tackle has been made.

I appreciate getting honest statements out of the club. After the prerecorded phone message I got with JT telling me about "building on the strong foundation from last year" I was thinking the club was run by pathological liars. At least they're now admitting they're missing more than half their starting lineup.

Aye BB, as others have also said.

Lots of teams are nursing injuries right now, even the ever-reliable Cam Smith is in doubt for the first few rounds, plus recently Darius Boyd. The start of the pre-season is nothing more than recovery from the brutality of the previous season.

No…its only us that get injuries.

No other team in the comp does.

We are the crap.

The Australian cricket team did not go too well today with heat related injuries.

So which team again is training currently with their full squad on deck?? The paranoia on here by some members can be amazing.

By the way, hadn't one of our new trainers come from the Australian cricket team…,

Our problems for next year relate to experience and size more than the number of guys in the rehab group.

Lacking experience "yes". we aren't really lacking size in the forwards.
Galloway, Woods, Ava, Lodge, Taupau, Sirro, Sue ect aren't small.
Hopefully the injuries are minor. It's easy to see why Tigers fans are a bit paranoid with injuries after the last four years.
