Tigers stuffed up by playing at SFS!

I reckon IF we played last nights game at Leichhardt in front of 20,000 screaming Tigers fans we would've won the game…The refs would've caved in to the pressure of refereeing in front of our home town crowd and we would've been awarded a penalty when they screwed the scrum with 30secs left....I feel at the SFS and ANZ stadiums the Refs don't seem to be so influenced by the crowd.

Why oh why did Humphreys decide to play at the SFS is beyond me???!....The Dragons only had 15,500 at their game today... and I can assure you 14,500 of them were Dragons fans....the Eagles fans were effectively locked out!....we could've done the same to the Roosters.... Yep, I reckon we stuffed up by not playing at Leichhardt and if we did we'd have next week off and an easier run into the G/F...bad decision Humphreys...that I reckon could well cost us big time!

We would not have got 20,000 screaming Wests Tigers fans in Leichhardt or Campbelltown. It would have been a lot less with the Roosters fans also attending. Many Wests Tigers fans would have missed out on attending last night’s game. It was the right decision to play at the SFS.

I agree I was the one criticising Humphreys for moving to SFS, but now I have gotten so much respect for him. A truly wonderful decision to pack in soooo many tiger suppoerts.

i disagree with alexaki.

no i strongly disagree with alexaki

what makes you think it would be at leichhardt instead of c'town anyway lol

theres no way we could know that. we might have lost by more if we played there

Crowd stats from last night…Wests Tigers 28642...Rorters....4834....

Thank you Mr Humphreys...

The right decision taken by the right person.
Humphreys has done a great job since he got here and the decision to play at the SFS was another quality decision by a quality administrator.

Alexaki too true. The once a year fans that would of whinged because they couldn't get tickets tuff titties, they would of had a better chance at leichhardt or campbelltown full stop. All the whinging fans that missed that game will always be able to buy tickets for the proceeding final which would be in a bigger stadium. I think Humphries decision was ludicrous and added to yesterday result. And anyone that says its for the fans and because of the fans, puleeeeez. The fans don't run on to the field and play the game, the players do. Ask any opposing player where they would least like to play the tigers and any one of them would say leichhardt or cambo, added to the fact there was a very good chance we could forsee playing the roosters, playing on their home turf was a big no no, it played into their hands and are laughing at us now. Results are what counts not satisfying once a year fans.

this is a stupid thread and i cant believe people actually agree with it

In that case, lets just move to a stadium that holds 5,682 - or however many season ticket holders we have. If your not prepared to buy a season ticket your not a fan and don't deserve a chance to see the team play.

last nights result had nothing to do with the venue. it was a patriotic and parochial tigers crowd last night. just one of those nights last night when the football gods were against us.

Every time the KFC's tried to get a chant up we drowned them out no end. The SFS was not the problem - the refs were. Very poor offside control and too gutless to penalise - unless it was against us.

I could not believe how great the Tigers fans were. It sent a chill up my spine when we sent up the chant.

We actually lost because when the heat was on we came up with some school boy options. Our playmakers just came up with too many bad options. Inexperience, panick or just lack of concentration we just made to many bad plays when it counted. We should be having a week off with the prospect of either playing Penrith or porobably the G coast and than into the grand final. Now we have to go to Canberra with a busted team and the following week play the dragons if we get lucky

lol, thats the second best atmosphere ive ever experienced.. only better been swans @ MCG 2005 grandfinal

Being a member means bugger all now. once they make the semis they bring on the next years memberships with the hook of being able to buy for the current semis series.
Im sure the Roosters were happy we played there…that alone makes it the wrong choice.

I'm not bagging tigers fans now, yesterday or ever I was there last night and thought the atmosphere was awesome but people are getting mixed up with crowd numbers and feel that more people in a stadium means more support, rubbish. There was only 30,000 odd last night even with the uneven split of 70/30 as it was I'm sure it would have been better if 7000 tigers fans missed out and we win the game at a more intimidating venue for the opposition. The sfs is the roosters home ground for petes sake. People should show their support by becoming members, I've said it before for a joint venture our ticket member number is nothing short of disgraceful.

and, if we lost at Campbo or Leichhardt, you'd all be on here ranting about how one venue is better than the other.
it's tiresome.

Its an advantage to play in semi final atmosphere straight away. Dragons are going to walk into a cauldron of noise in a fortnight and not have had the experience of it until then. That's going to affect their play.

Its stupid to talk from hindsight about such decisions anyway. We were up 15-2 with 20 to go. We had a scrum feed to win with 20 seconds to go. We had a field goal attempt 20 metres out right in front…twice. And your analysis has us losing because of the crowd?

Had we had played at Leichhardt or Campbelltown you and 10000 other people would have complained that you couldn't get tickets to the game. This is a case of "you're damned if you do and damned if you don't."

I think today Dragons showed how to properly use their home ground advantage. They got plenty of soft penalties today and had a hill packed out with Dragons supporters. Im not saying that it is always going to be the difference between winning and loosing as Dragons lost there last year. But I do think that it makes a difference and last night wouldve been enough to get us home. Oh well hopefully next year we learn our leason if were to make the finals again.

I have one word that describes this thread CRAP! The right choice was made by a CEO who is a LEADER not a follower.
